door seals should just peel off, give em a good tug and they should leave the car in one peice

as for the idle, im not to sure, but has it had a service recently?

The car keeps stooling :?

What shi*ting itself

The door trim has a plastic nut thats visible when the doors open, below the lock. Take it off and pull the strip away from the car until the stud is out the hole and slide the trim forward (or back can't remember) about an inch and it should just drop off.

As for the slow idle have you had a look at the air filter ?

your idle problem could be caused by a dirty Air Flow Meter (AFM).

try disconnecting the lead from it and see if the idle levels out.

if it does, you can try cleaning the AFM using some carb cleaner.

failing that it could also be the Idle Control Valve (ICV)-this can be disconected and cleaned too (careful tho  its Ԛ£50+ for a new one!)

one other option could also be an air leak somewhere in the air intake piping, so check that carefully.

Hope this helps

see pic below for locations of the ICV and AFM on the m40 1.8i

Thanks guys. The car is almost ready for a service. I was expecting there would be a screw to turn or something for the idle! I will have a look at the air filter etc, and thanks for the picture, that should help me! :D

Hi guys,

Got the strips off the doors, but cant get the plastic clips out! Are they just push in clips, or are there nuts on the inside im batteling against!? Given them a good yank, but dont want to break them.

Thanks very much again, :D

I left that post too soon, just got the plastic clips out. I am fitting a m tech 2 kit, and the m tech kit clips dont fit properly into the holes left by the clips that held on the door rubbings, the holes are too big. Am i missing something??!! 8O
