I reckon that would work fine Johnno.
I'm using a 14" Spal on the M30 turbo and it does a great job, with E28 535i radiator.

Dan,
14" is the biggest you can fit on the M3 radiator. I initially used a 14" Pacet Profan, but replaced this with a regular E30 aircon fan (also 14") when I fitted the aircon.
Ian.

I'm now looking for one for mine (who thinks I can get this car on the road in two weeks of graft and spending???).
Does anyone have any wiring diagrams and part numbers for making my own 2 speed fan controller that will work with a pacet 14" fan??
Cheers guys.
Jai

Is the E34 fan a direct fit? Or do I need some custom job to make it fit?
Right now I have the 5-blade E30 air con fan. Will this be adequate?

I think Ian332i is running the E30 air-con fan, so it should be up to the job - Ian doesnt cut corners or accept poor substitutesRoadHazard wrote: Right now I have the 5-blade E30 air con fan. Will this be adequate?

Yeah, I'm running a bog standard E30 A/C fan as my only cooling fan. It was actually from an M3, but I don't believe there's any difference.jmc330i wrote:I think Ian332i is running the E30 air-con fan, so it should be up to the job - Ian doesnt cut corners or accept poor substitutesRoadHazard wrote: Right now I have the 5-blade E30 air con fan. I think it's also worth using the temperature switch from the E36 318 compact, as it switches on sooner.
Cheers,
Ian.

I used a M3 electric fan on mine with the M52 rad from the E36 and it did a sterling job for the month I had it on the road

Went out to buy a temp switch from E36 318 today. I need anything that could help because I'm in a hot climate. I'm thinking about running no antifreeze like some folks in US because it never gets below 10 degree C where I live but I'm not sure if it's a good idea.
If the E34 air con fan is worth getting, I'll try to find one too.

I really wouldn't advise it. Antifreeze obviously stops the coolant from freezing, but more importantly, it has corrosion inhibitors.RoadHazard wrote:I'm thinking about running no antifreeze like some folks in US because it never gets below 10 degree C where I live but I'm not sure if it's a good idea.
Without these, your engine will slowly digest itself from the inside and the cooling system will silt up and make matters worse.

Alright. Got some antifreeze from BMW ready to be mixed and poured in. Just need to hook up a hose from the engine to the expansion tank. Can't source a good hose that has the right bends yet.
I'm going to use the 5-blade AC fan for now. Do I have to modify the fan circuit or I can leave it the way it came from the factory?
