I was just wondering...

For example, If i was to have a 318 or 320 and then was to do a conversion to a 325...

Would it be a legal requirement to change it on the logbook?

Also, for those who have done similar conversions, has there been a big increase in the insurance premium for the conversion?

Thanks...

You need to notify the DVLA of the change in engine number and the change in capacity, but the car will remain a 318i / 320i.

The insurance in most cases will be more for a converted car than for a 'real' 325i. Whether that's a 'big' increase or not, depends on the depth of your pockets and how much of an insurance risk you are!

Me too.
My 318i touring converted to 325i was cheaper to insure than if I had gone out and bought an original 325i touring

I forgot to tell the DVLA about the change though - just one of those things I never got round to doing. Had a little trouble at MOT time, but the tester sorted it out.
