Sup guys,

I recently wired in my Boot light as it hadnt been wroking since i bought the car...everything there works fine now..just a bsic wiring loop which is formed when the boot lid is opened (switch)

I got a Cobra alarm which isnt protecting my boot at the moment..

There is a 2 wires hanging around my boot area...

1 is live 12v
1 is a Grd to the car chassis

the Live is connected to the alarm somehow--if i connect these wire to the GRD and try to arm the alarm it wont have none of it so it MUST be part of the alarm system right?

Anyone know how this is wired up to the boot switch? or lamp?

My first guess is adding the 12v live wire to the live side of lamp and then Grd To Earth..only got basic electric knowledge as you can see :P

cheers

What happens if you connect just the 12v between the switch and the lamp so it's earthed when the boots open ?

Where would i put that?

The Grd has to do with something as it was all in the bundle..not sure what though..

TBH i havent really tried scenarios, thought someone would know so id save some time..

when i fixed the boot light,i taped these 2 wires together so i could retrieve them later, thats when i figured out what they were when trying to arm alarm

cheers

Pull the boot light out and hold the 12v wire onto the terminal closest to the boot switch.
Then push the switch in as if the boot is closed so the light goes out and try to arm the alarm, hope you have three hands
If it arms then let go of the button and the alarm should go off.

its sounds like the alarm installer has used the oringinal boot switched io protect the boot
so what you do is put a switvh in the boot to protect you boot and put the switch in between the switch so a son as the switch is released the alarm wil go off
hope the info is use ful
regards ben

How many wires and what colours have you got in the boot.

Ive got a Cobra Cat1 and have 2 wires leading to the Boot light/switch.

What i think has happened is the bulb has blown so the alarm will not arm.

So you either use the existing switch or start drilling holes and fit a second one.

ok try this.

Take the bulb out and leave the boot open.
Get the two other wires and seperate them, Arm the alarm and then connect them together.
Does the alarm sound ?
If it does then fit a second switch.
