evening all, HELP!!
i have not been on here for a while but some of you may remember a while back i wanted to do an e30 convertion to 4x4.. well the plan changed as i couldnt find a good e30 for the money i was looking to spend.. anyway... current plan goes as follows..
i have bought an E30 325 convertable (automatic) and i plan to put the engine from my old E36 328 (manual ) into it.
Questions:
1- i seem to remember on here there was a PDF of the haynes or bently manual for the 328 engine (i need to strip and rebuild to insure no problems with the engine first) but cant find the link anymore, can you help??
2- my plan is to put the manual e36 gearbox in the car to save issues with mating engine to gearbox, is this a good idea? also to save ECU issues as the automatic has a second ecu for gearbox i believe.
3- would i be right in thinking the main parts i will need to source are; E34 sump and pick up, new steering column, and E36 engine mounts?
any other advice will be greatly receieved, and i will get some photos up on here when i can find them all, in the mean time if you want to see the collection of BMWs i have or have had and the parts i am using look at my bebo (link below)

PS. any old skool mini fans may want to check out my wifes bebo for her recently purchased mini 30

Looks good mate, where abouts in the country are you? Looks like one that was cutting about this area (Dundee) a year or two ago.

If your doing a rebuild, rebuild it into a M50 iron block
main parts you need to do the swap is an E34 sump/pick up/dipstick,golf or clio brake servo, use the E36 engine arms and the EWS system out of the E36,
not sure what you mean by steering column,if you mean the universal joint mod to do away with butchering the manifold well it has been done but i think the manifold still needs a touch of 'adjustment' (could be wrong)
Gearbox: there is a few boxes that can be used also if you can get an m20 flywheel (its lighter)
Good luck!
