cheers pal ...on another note power steering racks are they all the same i have a 91 cab and need one asap

The steering racks on e30's are different, the 4 cylinder models have an alloy rack and the 6 cylinders have a steel rack. They both fit the car but not sure if the pipework will fit either rack.

hmm not heard that before.

anyone know if the steel rack is any thinner? as the closest clearance problem i have is between sump and steering rack and hence my engine is mounted a little higher than i woud like (close to bonnet!)

mine is an 89 316i with an aly rack

From memory I think the 6 pot steel racks are thinner in the middle section than the cast ally ones from the 4 pots.

I have the steel rack on the 2.7 (used to be a 320i) and the centre part of the rack sits slightly below the level of the subframe. Hope that helps Toby :?
