swirl marks in paintwork

I remember someone bringing up this topic before but cant find it!
Well whenever i get my car washed i can see very faint swirl marks in the paintwork maybe caused by washing car regularly i wanna know if anyone has used a polish that cures the problem ive used t-cut and Autoglym radiant wax polish but the sort the problem very temporarily...................

t cut might be the only solution but a lot of people dont like it as its quite vigorous

To completly remove the swirls would require a machine polish.

By hand you could try some Autoglym Super resin polish, really work it into the paint, this will mask the swirls, then put some Autoglym Extra gloss protection over the top to make it last longer.

Is machine polish an expensive job? Got loads of swirls

I would say so if done by a pro, looking at learning how to do it myself this summer.

depends on how bad the swirls are and how hard the paint is, G3 is quite aggressive though.

g3 has it,s place [dustbin] but there are better products on the market.

I'm no expert, I do however no a bit, I have my own polisher, my personal preference of polish is the Menzerna range, others that spring to mind are, 3M or meguiars.

Mine is well beyond a Machine polish unfortunately.

I would charge around £5 a panel if im doing it, cant see any bodyshop charging over £7-8 to do it all over, thats flatting out any minor scratches with 2000 grade paper then polishing up with G3, then go over the whole car with G10, which is a finer grade compound, then i use Finesse, which is a 3M product, all over the car with a different mop head, will find out who makes them an try put a link up later, but its a soft sponge which is sort of lumpy, (bit vague sorry) this gets rid of swirl marks, then a quick wax, job done !!

You may get a machine polish for £50, it will very likely look worse than when you gave it to them though, covered in holograms and probably still covered in swrls.
Removing swirls is a very time consuming process, it involves testing and using different abbrasives and pads, ideally needs to be done in conjunction with a paint depth guage. I'm still pretty novice at all this, it took me pretty much 5 hours of machining to get my car looking how it does, but it's by no means perfect. A pro detailer may well do it in half the time but never for £50.
