If I get a day at it I should get it done. Just carpets/interior etc.

Then it's back to the oily bits... :thumb:

Not at all mate. Even managed to squeeze the welding in between moving house this week! Might be a week or two before it gets any further... :(

Another wee update.....

Have a new house now so I'm in the process of trying to get the garage empty so I can move the car in. It should be in it's new home sometime next week.

In the meantime I just picked up some front brake calipers for it as the current ones are very corroded.

Here's another small update.....

I have started prepping the inside of the car for a lick of paint. It's not getting back seats or carpet back in, just some bucket seats and hopfully a cage if I can find one within my budget. Dash is half out, wiper motor removed, new one arrived a few days ago.

Made the mistake of not actually mocking the calipers I bought to make sure they fit BEFORE getting them powder coated and DOH!!! They don't fit.

All is not lost though as they will fit on my 318. It's just not that car I'd planned to put them on.

The picture below shows all stages of interior prep. Top right is how it started, top left with the soundproofing off, tools to do the job bottom right! Heatgun, scraper, wirewool & planty of elbow grease...!

Sorry about asking you where you where! :o: In all fairness the first time I met you was in a dark petrol station on a cold night! Appologies there!

I was astonished at the paint on this car - the pictures just don't do it justice! A nice little project that seems to be coming together nicely  keep up the good work!

Cheers James. U never know eh? I may well drive it up ur way one day as the wife's family are all still in Edinburgh!

Daf, No worries at all mate. I hardly recognised u either!

The paint is pretty good eh? I washed it the other day which helps. It was caked in dust from havin been sat in a barn for months. The current garage to house proximity is also helping things progress nicely. I'm getting an hour or two at it in the afternoon, and often working on it after work til about 1.30am.

I've always wanted to tackle this sort of a project but never had the facilities to do it before. I'm lookin forward to getting the shell in to some sort of shape so that I can devote time and readies on the business end of things... winkeye

I was telling my best mate the story on the phone tonight about how this car got from the barn to my new garage. We ended up in stitches so I thought I'd share it with you.

Basically I drove it. 100% illegally but only a 2.5 mile trip along quiet roads I know very well. The time of day was picked strategically but I never intended to move it mid-project so the car was not quite ready to drive. I couldn't find the accelerator pedal so I just pressed the little stump with my right foot. I threw a seat in from my 318 and the seatbelt clip didn't match the seat belt so I was unharnessed.

I hit a long straight on the way and reminded myself of the nice powerband. It was then I realised that I had not tightened the steering wheel so spent the rest of the journey pushing on the wheel... oh yeah and the mirror glass popped out half way home. I made it though. winkeye

Then my mate tells me the story of how he had set off in an E30 years ago and then realised that he had locked the face off from his stereo in the glove box. At some point he thought, 'if I'm quick...' and removed the ignition key whilst on the move to unlock the glove box. Whilst he was bent over trying to get the key in the glove box, the steering lock clicked on. :chuckle:

All rather irresponsible but amusing nonetheless! :D

i remember driving my old 325i down to my mates to get welding done.. drivers seat nothing else car was out of t and t aswell but had been in for a test and failed on one bit of welding on the floor. hence the dodgy drive down to my mates.. same idea with the pedal aswell. got stopped on the way home from the local cops. they werent highly amused to say the least but by luck they sent me on my way with a warning.. when i got stopped for having no tax i was clean with them told them it had no mot showed them the fail and explained it had been away getting the work done to it. to start with there giving it the yea weve heard it before .. then they looked in the car and saw the interior had been stripped out it to gain access to the welding.. sent me on my way with a worried look on there face... car was back together and back in for a retest the following morning and taxed straight away.. got pulled by the same cops to check it over but they seemed oky as id had it sorted out
