yup my afm doesnt adjust, turn the screw and nothing happens. Tried another one and same, so one more to try and then its find another m30 engined car that is running fine and start swapping bits!
Since it has been in it has done 14mpg on every tank, whether pootling to work or 50 miles of track work. However for some weird reason it managed 19mpg on a 190 mile run on Sunday night

E32 manifold is the same (or very similar) though yours appears to have been modified for steering column clearance
for economy comparison, i usually get around 20mpg around town (on petrol) but managed high 30's on a run over to the 'ring!
diff backplate cracking seems to be a common problem. any other medium case E30 diff backplate will fit though, make sure when you push the new bush in that any corrosion is cleaned out of the hole (course emery will do it) as it will make it very tight fit and may crack the new backplate when the new bush is being pressed in.

polybushed the diff now so no problems with pushing it in
Seems to be ok, will be doing 200 miles tonight and then tomorrow a couple of runs over a road called strines in Derbyshire. My absolute favourite driving road so will see how we get on

well all went well, seems to fine now.... touch wood!
Also got my second afm yesterday, fitted it to the car, put it on the gas analyzer and managed to get co down to 1% which I am chuffed with! So the 2 previous afms I bought were duff although being advertised as good working order
We shall see what else fails tomorrow on it's first trackday!

Speaking of which, I've only just put two and two together, that's a McLaren F1 engine in your avatar, isn't it?

You need to get a job at Bugatti!
(I'd prefer to own an F1 though, much cooler!).

nah, much prefer the F1 thanks. We don't need 4 turbos to beat the production car speed record. We still have the n/a speed record at 241mph
Having said that though, the bug is a seriously quick car
Just doesnt feel like an event once you are in one

Yeah, 241mph isn't too shabby!
I think the F1 looks and sounds better too, and Gordon Murray is probably my biggest hero ever!
I wish I could comment but I've not had experience of either car.
Sorry, I've taken this waaay off topic!

Right
After the Abingdon trackday the engine went quickly downhill
Pulled it apart to find carange everywhere! 6mm of crank endfloat, piston slap galore and a knackered oil pump.
So after weeks and weeks of searching for an engine I finally decided to buy a full car...
So collected this on Friday evening:

Had a few too many miles for my liking but was a good price and at the right time (ie I was getting desparate!)
Another boat anchor:

Getting a little better at removing these engines now so was quite easy, and llooooaaadsss of room compared to the e30!
Side by side ready for distruction:

Unfortunately I ran out of time due to family events at Easter and Mother's birthday on Monday so although it had a lot of tasty morsels as it was a sport the donor car got loaded up in true farmer style:

And went to the scrapyard in the sky!
But not before being loaded up with scrap!

The next part of this sorry story was the clutch expiring on the trusty discovery after dropping the trailer back at my mates place.
I need the truck to go and collect another car for a clutch replacement over the weekend so it's double trouble. So I'm geeing myself up for an overnight clutch change on the disco tomorrow night (please pray for no rain as it will be in the car park at work!) in order to go and collect this to work on over the weekend:

Wish me luck peeps
