I take it this job is a lot easier with the bonnet removed?

It's got to be a lot easier with the bonnet off - 1 for removing the old foam and 2 for putting the new foam on, I'll certainly be doing that next time.
I did mine on a windy day so not much crap got on the engine bay when scraping of the old foam, but I dropped one of the sections (they're very light!) and it landed sticky-side down in a load of dirt on the floor
Just be careful that you get it on straight as that stuff really sticks !
BTW - I like the M3 one (looks like an E34) - did they ever do one with a little light in it ?(again, on the E34) Shouldn't be too hard to fit one

Previously owned loads of old E30s, E34s, a few E36s, E32s, E39s and an E38.
Currently in a diesel Audi - miss me old E30's....

What do you stick the new foam on with. I have been meaning to do mine for a while and keep forgetting about it.

Good tip cheers.DanThe wrote:If you scrape it off yourself get an old bed sheet and cover the engine bay first as it will get everywhere.

Buy replacement foam that is adhesive (3M) backed. I got some pre cut, adhesive pieces specifically for an E30 from Pelican Parts in the US but you local auto shop should have it on a roll, again with adhesive backing
