yup all on, was a complete bastard to do as everthing was seized on... Ended up having to weld a bigger plate onto the n/s strut cap as it was rusted away and once I got the grips on it collapsed!

Oil change and check over next weekend and then trying to fit my carbon bucket seats

They are awesome seats! Are they Ste's old ones?

We are getting to the stage of things not getting as stuck anymore as they have all been on and off at least once.

You still get the occasional stupid sized bolt which is well siezed up! 11, 15, 18mm

I cant seem to find a website that lists EBC Yellows for the E30 :? I've looked at motorsportworld & europerformance, even the EBC site does not list them for the E30 ? ?

Can anyone point me in the right direction for these please and a ballpark figure on the cost too would be helpful :)
Mintex M1155's never let me down at the ring about £80 per set motorsportworld stock them.

Still a little bit to do before Friday.

Image

At the moment the car has no engine, gearbox, front or rear suspension, or brakes. The engine has been stripped for a rebuild, waiting for rings and shells to rebuild. Rear beam and arms have been stripped, waiting for bushes to rebuild. Should finish the cage this weekend, hopefully the rest of the parts will be here early in the week to give me a fighting chance for getting the the rest of it done by Thursday night. The original plan was to get it taxed and MOT'd next week to drive it to Abingdon to help bed the engine in bit, but I suspect the engine may be running in driving on and off the trailer :? Hope everybody else is a bit better prepared for this than I am :D

Respect Brian! JIT works well...sometimes.

I would offer to help, but I have final year coursework in on thursday and I can't face starting it yet. :?

Did a few more bits on the pug today, changed the sticking caliper, moved the washer bottle and lost another kilo of weight by removing something so that I could relocate the bottle

Still to sort:

Slight oil leak
Change engine oil and filter
Chage diff oil again! (can't be risking nigh on £600 of diff now.) :(
Change a fuel hose
Wire in oil temp sender

All relatively easy...I hope.

Gave it a spanking for a few miles today, two hands on the wheel required when on the throttle!

Hi guys,

Diffs changed for a 3.91 and car runs @ 70mph @ 4000 rpm so is just right for 140mph @8000 and if I run the 16`s will be slightly shorter. Took it for a settling in spin and just check all is ok. :D

Weather forecast is below, so looks like slicks only with the wets left at home, but will keep an eye on it up to Friday.

High
11°C
Mostly Cloudy Wind From West South West at 10 kmph
Maximum Humidity 85%
UV Index 1
Chance of Precip. 10%
Avg. High. 10°C
Record High N/A
Sunrise 06:55

I had a look at the weather forecast this morning and it said a similar thing, but I didn't dare post it incase I jinxed it. :-x

Your gear ratios sound similar to our Pug, except ours is about 4200rpm at 70 in 5th. Also, I can only go to 7100rpm. Boo!

Bagsy a passenger lap, i've never been in an e30 m3 I don't think. 8O

Jon_Bmw,

It does not worry me if it rains or not, but better to go prepared. My rev limit is set at 8200rpm but has seen 8500 rpm on occations. Peak power and torque has dropped off by then so no point in reving the bollocks of it.
Pass laps no problem just want to learn the circuit first and get a feel for the grip.

Regards,

Dave

That was a angry face at myself btw, as I know what I am like with luck.

I will prefer a dry day as wet and FWD is all a bit boring, plus with the current diff ratio, turning in will be a nightmare.

I look forward to a pax lap, I bet it is a very, very capable car.

Just got to to change the diff oil now and its ready, tank brimmed, so the level should have dropped a bit by the time we get there.

Forecast is still the same. No change.

All I have to do is load it on the trailer, load up the spare tyres, and find a Tesco or Shell nearby for some good stuff, and we are all ready to rock. Need to also take the foot pump with as well to adjust tyre pressures.
The car can hold its own although its 20yrs old this year but can`t say the same for the driver. He`s an old gereatric who requires a pacemaker to get going. Hopefully won`t end up getting everyones way.

cheers

Jammy sh1ts. Rear beam and suspension went in this evening. Just swapped valve stem oil seals on the head, so it is ready to be rebuilt and bolted to the block. Then loom, plumbing etc, and brakes to sort. Seriously thinking of cancelling work tomorrow, may be just a bit too much to fit into one evening. Still have to get tracking done, was thinking of first thing Fri on the way to Abingdon but would be easier if I could get the car drivable to sort it tomorrow.

Presumably you all got the directions/information email?

Starts at 10ish iirc till 1, then 1.45 ish till 4.45ish.

Look on google maps, just type in abingdon and you'll come across the airfield on satalite view.

From memory, just follow the signs to Dalton barracks, as that is on the airfield.

Bob, all this preparing makes it even more sad when it breaks!

No change in the forecast so no need for wets tomorrow  . Max temp is 11 degrees with only 10% chance of rain.

Car is all loaded up and ready to go. Just need to pick up some go juice on the way and we are ready to rock and roll. :D

Look forward to meeting you all tomorrow, and have a safe journey there.

Had a dilema earlier, forgot to refill the LSD with oil after fitting, realised after a mile or so!
It made a few complaints so I limped the car back to the workshop and filled it it, cant believe I made such a schoolboy mistake :( I thought I wouldnt be coming at one point! I have done 15 miles since and all appears to be well :D

I'll be in the queue behind you for tracking, not going at all to plan. Still not got the car ready (or even running yet :? ) but had enough for one night, will be back out in the garage again early morning but very unlikely to hit Abingdon for 9.30 briefing, still quite a lot on the to do list.

Pissed, nothing like an e30zone drama :(

Talking of pissed, I think packing the car bits together now wouldn't be too wise! :)

Brian you are crazy, its not evening running yet 8O At least you can blame a misfire from lack of prep or something :o What excuse do I have for being shit?

I'm also going to leave my 'wets' behind. I'll take 2 normal tyres to get me home incase I shred the r888's up.

See you all tomorrow, bright and early, 9.00 yeah Brian? :P
