Z3 rear top plates? What are they? Do you mean rear suspension top mounts?

Prevent the thin sheet metal at the top of the rear struts from deforming or cracking under prolonged heavy loads..

cheers Dan,

picked up the Eibach arbs today. if i get time i will try and fit them monday..

then next on the list is ditch the absolutly terrible E30 steering rack and replace with Z3 item and fit the solid steering guibo.
then its LSD time, then after that i think some areo mods will go down quite nicely!

Camskill are a cracking company. Free delivery on anything over 2 tyres and they are still the cheapest for tyres by a mile. Perfect.

To be fair, ARB's are for tweaking a track car, not solving roll issues.. I would look at some stiffer springs and use the ARB's to sort balance, as they can actually reduce traction esp out of corners (not I guess that, that is a huge issue with an iS :) )

"Anti Roll Bars" - tittle is a bit of a given mate, imo yes they do solve body roll issues to a certain extent, and as the Eibachs are the same thickness as standard (20mm/16mm) there is next to no loss of traction coming out of coners especialy with only 136bhp on tap, an LSD will be the most dramatic improvement in that area.

iv looked into spring rates etc etc, and tbh mate its alot of money for a bit of trial and error.

if i was racing then yes i would be balls out coilovers the works,
but im no die hard racer, i just enjoy the light track day fun with me buddies and twisty road rightness :D

if in a few years time if still have the E30 i will look into the GAZ Golds.

Ah yes.. That is the title I know, but the reason they were invented was to maintain ride comfort on a road car whilst not ending up with quite such a wallowy mess.. Not to stop a track car rolling.. What they offer a track car is once you have a spring setup you are happy with, you can adjust the balance of the car with them..

I think you'd find a well setup chassis would be the biggest improvement in traction..

It isn't so much expensive trial and error if you speak to people with experience and see if you can try a few setups. Quite often there is a general setup which can be tweaked either with springs or roll bars that works..

I was under the impression it was a semi serious track car, hence my spring comment, eibachs are nice road springs..

End of the day if you are happy with it then fair play

I agree with Jhonno.
not to mention you already have a cage so the arb's have less work todo.
I was at oulton on friday it was a little damp but dried up. I have no roll cage and lost some easily removeable items from the rear and found I was only just able to get the rear spinning up winding the 2.8 up out of shell oils and first corner, even druids I was stuck to the tarmac and that is on H&R springs front b6's rear b4's and H&R arb's.. no lsd, no cage, and road tyres.

I'd be fitting a bigger engine for more fun! you can only pedal an iS around so fast..
my 2.8 needs more work now because I only finished it thursday night when I have time I'll fix it again
Bollocks to this 24v scrap!

Just had a look back, I can see some dremel action on the inlet manifold. Having never taken one off as I am lazy, do the ports not match up well to the head then? Or did you open out the head as well? Couldn't see what you'd done exhaust wise in my quick skim, but the factory bmw one is of good bore'age :D
