I will be there in an e21 either my blue 316 road car with some upgrades, or... all being well... my (essfourteens previously) green one with roll cage 2L throttle bodied engine brake upgrades not much weight and much fun! I need someone to take pics of it on track as various BMW parts guys and workshop people want to see it!

My 2L M10 S14 throttle body setup hit a problem just before 6 - they can't find one of the throttle shafts and the throttle discs off it. Don't know if they have found them - I know where they were when I took the stuff to them. It needs that sticking back together and something like 4 hours of mapping tomorrow.

Then I need to get my mate to bring it back to my workshop on his truck, so I can bolt the bonnet doors and bootlid on - have two fellow e21 afficionados lined up to help.

So if you see me on track in a saphirblau e21, don't ask if that's the one with the ITB's. If it's a green one come and have a look!

I believe we are using the Island circuit, as I still have the 1.6 engine fitted, I'll be using an AMB sundial laptimer! :(

Email I have from Nick says international circuit.

Also timing is not permitted - if you are timing then it's not a better driving day and it becomes a different liability risk insurance category etc etc.

I cannot find where I was told if it was Island, if it IS the International circuit then even better!
:D

'sundial' laptimer was a joke.

al-g, good to meet you yesterday mate, sorry I could'nt have spent more time chatting! Great looking Sport you have there.... Hope to see you out in it later in the year...

Stof, great pics mate! Im sure you have it look like I was going faster than I actually was..... winkeye

Bob-S, hope you got the bubbling expansion tank sorted! And the way that your passenger 'projectile vomitted' after his hot laps mate, you must have really been trying some!

Good to see Wayne Orr yesterday too mate, hope the car looked ok :D

Just a quick update on my day.....

Got there late.
Forgot my towing eye for the sighting laps (and forgot that I really needed a mirror of some sort for a track-day!)

Session 1.
Went out for the first session (in the damp) and 'did a Gary Northloop' coming out of Knickerbrook but didnt collect anything or halt the session. PAS belt fell off too.
Reset tyres pressures and lowered back of car to same height as front.

Session 2.
Bit more confidence as the circuit was drying.

Session 3.
Started the car and found the downpipe had fractured all the way around! Oh dear. Track shop at OP wanted £41 for some 'posh exhaust wrap' so I drove into Winsford and bought 2 'exhaust repair kits' for £2.95 each. Repaired exhaust over lunch.

Session 4.
Exhaust ok but throttle sticking open at 4k rpm..... Not confidence inspiring! Came in and found linkage inside not returning to fully closed position. Liberal usage of WD40 improved it but still needs to be properly cured. Did a 2.28

Session 5.
Loads of grip. Very very good fun..... Started taking Druids in 4th! 2.25

Session 6.
Same again but started using 4th for Cascades too.... 2.22

All in all an excellent day with BMW CC and was great to meet a few more guys from here.... Few static pics fo follow.

Bring on PBMWC at Donington, but between now and then Im going to be very busy!

Ste

Edited - read the thread and realised you were in the red one!

My e21 featured in the second pic up above this post. My passenger informally timed me at 2.31 so I'm pretty chuffed with that compared to the times you mentioned - it's mildly upgraded but definitely not race spec. The full on race spec monster will be ready on Monday, just a bit too late for this trackday!

Jim, it was good to see your car out, and one of my mates commented on how well it was going!
Hope to see you out again later in the year!

The little 316 likes chasing slow drivers in very fast cars through the corners to offset the straightline speed difference. I did notice someone looking at the badge on the back and muttering "it's only a 316!"

Looking forward to getting the proper track car sorted - will chase M3's down the straight too

yep all went "well", when I say that I mean I didnt prang the car nor did I blow it up which I'm chuffed about!

Ste, no I parked it up and left it, dirt and all - sod it the MOT's run out!
I've got that to sort, the steering, a weepy sump gaskit and a few other bits for the mot.
As for the projectile vomit, I'm glad it wasnt in the car!! and trying hard? brakes said it all didnt they? :P

Stof, did you get any pics of a blue e30 on gold wheels?

Dan, r888's required for next attack I think! and more curb action

Is there plans for another one in Oulton anytime soon? I was tempted with this one but thought it would be pusing my luck with the car only going back on the road 13 days before!

Thats a decent time there Bob I have to say..... but then again you have another 90bhp than I do!

Great pics Al! Did you have any of mine? Or was it broken down in the garage again! :x

Daf318is - there is another BMW CC trackday in November I seem to remember. Well worth going to!
There are other random trackdays through the year at OP but they are filled with French and Rice rubbish
