My recent purchase a 89' 325ise has a chip fitted also i have the standard one. So I dismanteled the ecu and the chip said alpina m25 on it, ne way with the standard chip in it does the same 20mpg but feels sluggish at low revs and also is hard to rev ie. when u rev it, it sort ov as a flat spot and fluffs, so I put the so called alpina chip back in and it is A1, it runs at 900rpm idle with the chip and it ran at 600rpm with standard chip. Just wondered if anyone has experienced the same and can describe what sort of chip I have.

sounds like an alpina 325 chip.
it will run hotter as the revs are much higher in the range putting a bit more strain on the engine. most performance chips do this.
btw, do you have a man. or auto? if you have the latter try to get into the habit of putting in neutral when your stoped at lights etc, because the transmission fluid will get a lot hotter, and this cools down within the radiator causing it to heat even more.
