Hi all, been flicking through poss mods on my cab, turbo in prog, ive jst seen that there were a few E30's made with 4WD!?!? i dont suppose these are very easy to get hold of but if i could would it be worth doing? and was the 4WD made for performance or would it rip apart under extreme pressure?
thanks.
thanks.

I don't think many people bother with tuning the iX's so it's not really been tested out. I think some on here had/has a 2.7 iX but that's about as extreme as I've seen...
Not in E30s any more

Mixed reports of the durability of the 4WD system from the iX models.
Putting 200+ bhp and keen driving through a 20 year old transmission system is probably going to cause a fair share of headaches and overdraft abuse
There is probably more to it than swapping some drivetrain products too

There was an M50B25 ix too in the e34 5 series so the sump would be good, which could maybe with some fudging be made to fit.GrindCulture wrote:I don't think many people bother with tuning the iX's so it's not really been tested out. But the bmw 4 wheel drive system is apparently pretty weak.

I thought there were manuals but shouldn't be an issue to convert it.

ok, thanks for the info guys. it had crossed my mind that the 20 year old system pobly wont want its ass kicked! and being as though ill be powering it with 250+ bhp it might not last that long. i woundnt want it locking up on me or sumthin, and breaking my pride! worth a thought though

Looks nice. I've got the same bodykit in my shed at the moment. Undecided as to whether to fit it or note30maddog wrote:quite a few, just uploading some on photobucket.....

i got a quote for the fitting of cosworth 4 wheel drive running gear in my touring and it was £2500 + parts iirc. worth considering for turbo power.
