hi leon, yea it would certainly give you a little extra but im not sure how that works on emmisions, im sure someone will clear this up,

and yea you will have to compensate with mpg, but its the same with any power mod, shudnt be too bad though.

Any car before late 93 can be decatted so you should be alright. Not sure if it will give any massive advantage.

more noise is all you gain,
it will sound like your going faster but annoy your neighbors.

According to BMW's own figures, an iS without a cat is nearly 10% better on fuel consumption, than one with! (On the constant speed figures.)

Cnance are your Is won't have a CAT fitted anyway. Look to see if you have lambda sensor fitted to the exhaust, check under the battery tray for a wiring connector, if there isn't a cable going down to the lambda then you don't have a CAT.

The front box on the iS does look like a typical CAT, but I've never actually seen a cAT fitted to one. I've decatted my 318i which is a 92 build and have no problems getting it through a MOT.

I'm yet to see an IS with a CAT fitted, the front box does look like a CAT though.

If you remove the front silencer all you'll get is an increase in noise, no performance advantage.

if you have a cat,it must be shafted.my IS has no cat.
if i had one that was ok,i'd not think about it's removal.
i'd look at a back box and cut the old one off if noise is the name.
my car was built in march 91.
