BMW car club

Would have thought your best bet would be www.e36coupe.com
1 & 2 bed flats in Bournemouth areas, with parking
PM for details

yeah, there's a few on e36coupe but i've not found a proper compact forum which they could probably do with being a weird e36 saloon, front end bespoke middle, e30 rear suspended hybrid

welcome to the darkside andrew.

for some reason there's been a huge increase in yoofs around here (bury st edmunds) driving compacts maybe 5 or 6 modified in usual first car style cruising around.

can't wait for summer so i can get mine back on decent wheels rather than it just looking like a boggo compact with broken suspension :D

i take it as a daily runaround it's staying standardish? not tempted to drop an s14 and slipper in one weekend for a bit offun?
cheers,

harry

harry, its getting a slipper for sure! (got one ready to go on, just need to buy oil) No S14 tho as its staying standard! Its a 99 ti sport so has all the nice bits on it, but needs centre armrest and Evo II front chin and rear bootlid lip'

Ive decked it on a new set of coilovers but the front boat like 225/50 profile tyres rubbed on the strut so had to fit a 10mm spacer on each wheel and converted to studs (racer) looking for a nice set of wheels for it as the 16" five spokes are naff looking. FAB have some really nice E36/E46 wheels really really cheap!

Dips looking for,

Leather Arm rest
Front M3 lip £40 new on ebay so not the end of the world
Front Late/facelift Black wings and front grill section as it has a few bubbles coming out, nothing bad but just really annoying. and the wings have a few little bubbles on the trailing edge which i think they all do but i would like to get it free from 100% rust. The skirts and rear arches are ok and been waxoiled :)

I'd quite like a slipper for mine, it goes sideways easier than the m3 even though it's a boggo 1.6.

They'll take an 8in et 20 wheel no problem with a 215 tyre, tons of strut clearance then. Had to use a 3mm shim spacer when I put the std 15s on for winter and you can just about get a fag paper between tyre and spring!
cheers,

harry

Yeah, its really twitchy on the limit but the coilovers and lowred height/camber made a nice improvement and the traction control doesnt cut in as much. I think it does need a slipper tho!

What is it that makes the compacts so loose on the back? Weight? Not enough? Might look into getting a thinner rear arb to compensate the insanely massive stock one on the front!

Dibs will call you when im driving home tonight,

A

not sure tbh. i guess a lack of weight not just over, but hanging behind the rear wheels. on the compact you've got a spacesaver spare, tucked between the arms, and not much bodywork. on an e30 youve got a larger spare, almost entirely behind the axel, and a fair bit more bodywork overhanging. more weight further back gives more of a pendulum effect, so while it has more momentum, is slower and smoother in it's swing.

relatively moreweight higher up at the rear too?

mine has no rear arb, and is still snappy in the wet, but it may also have a thinner front one being a non sporty model

they are good fun but some time you can get caught out with the compacts from having grip and then lack of it ive had it a few time in the gf's car
