Does anyone know anything about these and why the warning light has come on.

Cheers

might be the seatbelt stalks if they have been pulled mate would be worth plugging into a diagnostics kit to find the problem

Had this on my E39,was the passenger occupancy mat, under the passenger seat base,a right mare of a job though to do,i would rule everything out first before you start pulling your seat apart!
As Whipsey says seat belt pretensioners can cause this too.

If it is the seat mat i would get a professional to do it.

Only way to really find out is to get it plugged into a diagnostic machine,it will give you the fault codes.

Be careful where you have your limbs/head in relation to the airbag when your messing with/pulling wires!!

If its like the e39 set up its a pain in the ar*s because even if you prod around the seat and belt buckle wiring and repair a duff connection you won't know about it until you take it to a garage and have the light reset, as they don't just turn off when the "fault" is fixed.

Then when you have the light turned off, you'll be happy to see that it doesn't come back on..... for a few days. Then you'll repeat the exercise various times until you give up and drive everywhere withe the warning light on like the rest of us.....

My local garage actually told me to give up as it would almost certainly be something irrelevant (and I think they were fed up with me asking them to reset the light.....)
These are sensations as hard to forget as they are to ignore.....
