I fail to see how that home brew m30 conversion can be regarded as a bargain when it's 11.5k Euros.

Just what I was going to point out! Would be worth it/more with the original S14 in it!

I don't speak any german, but even I can work out that it says orginal m3 with a 3.5 which is like? an alpina b6 conversion. Is it even a high output m30? As in more than 220bhp.

Seems overpriced to me.

C'mon guys it's an M3 with a 3.5. That's gotta be heaps of fun. All the hard work has been done, and OK it may need a bit of fettlin, but it's gotta be worth a view?

I'm sure there's some hagglin to be done. It would be nicer if it had the original motor but it'd probably be a lot more too.?

Sorry but that's a £400's worth of engine at most.

What are S14's worth?

That is like going back in time by fitting that engine. I always thought the b6s was a strange choice. Looked nice, but a backwards step in terms of engine design.

85bhp+ per litre, ITBs, 4 branch manifold, decent engine management, solid lifters, high RPM limit, the noise, 4 valves per cylinder. Or you could have a heavy, underpowered(for capacity) 12v lump I guess!

At least a b6s had some extra power, I doubt that one comes close as its probably a run of the mill m30.

IF its a genuine Alpina B6/B10 spec M30B35 then its worth a dam sight more than £400.

Not as much as an S14 though.

2 - 3k mate... i thought it was a special edition m3... how wrong i was!! if indeed the engine is a standard item the bastard should be shot for putting the bastard in!!

The noise? m30 sounds much nicer than an s14, unless the 4 pot banger has a carbon airbox. But a big six with a carbon airbox would sound even better.

I meant with a carbon airbox to be fair. Does demlots have one, it sounded pretty nice on the rollers but then it doesn't half rev. Does yours sound like a flymow then? winkeye

One of the best sound I have heard was an e46 privateer BTCC car which was an m50 straight 6(not sure, but I presume 2.0 :o ) with a carbon box. Unreal!

A B6S would kill all variants of M3 in a straight line. 260bhp and pretty much the same tourque will do it!

Can anyone read German, is it a proper b6s lump? Or is it a worn out m30b35 with 200bhp?

Demlots does indeed have a carbon airbox, not sure if it was on when we did that dyno day.

I had my m3 on the rollers today and it did 220.8bhp

Listen to this bigsix carbon airbox goodness

Err not quite but it says basicly says it an alpina engine and has a 4 digit stamped head. The rocker cover and inlet are the correct colour to.

Also says rusty wheel arches.

Does anyone read 'google translate tools'

It does say something about an alpina head and engine. Alpina point set? uprated ignition components? seems unlikely.

OOPS didn't realise it wasn't a genuine Alpina B6! Should really have read some of the text not just look at the pictures!

And for comparison.

The big six does sound nice, but i do prefer the noise of a "tuned" S14 with carbon air box
