chips can be had from
chips (at) e30zone.co.uk
there are 2 types mild (about 7bhp more, idle up to 850-900ish) makes car smoother and easier to drive
Wild (7-12bhp more, 900idle and 7k rev limit)
cost for either is Ԛ£55
hope that helps

The chips were tested on different cars and taken on rolling road days.
Of course if your car is not running well or the plugs are old you may not get full HP gains. Thats why there is a broad 7-12 bhp figure for it.

I really don't know about these chips... people say all sorts of things about them, but nobody ever seems to back them up with any kind of evidence... now I can't say anything at all about the Zone jobbies, because mine isn't one of them, but the only thing I can say abot mine is that it removed a lot of the "coming on cam" feeling about 3500rpm that the M20 has, is it's much smoother delivery throughout the range. I don't know if there's any extra BHP or not, as my motor was underfuelling on the rolling road day, so it doesn't matter what the chip's doing, there ain't any more fuel getting through so no more power.
I would dearly love to see actual roller-based EVIDENCE of ANY chip (on non-turbos) increasing performance - on any car!

the Zone chip I had DEF improved the overall engine behaviour, better at pulling off, no flat spots and more go up top. I know this for sure as I topped it out on the std chip and it hit 135 on the clock, no faster and I did leave it there for as long as I could. Now tho she'll get to 140-142 on the clock.
Mid range is where the best results are, much stronger pull.
I've had a go against a stock 325i and even the other owner could not belive the difference.
I did not have my G-tech at the time, but now I'm under 7 secs to 60 (book times are 7.5 or so) and low 15's for the quarter @ 90+ (96 is my best)
The main point I would like to make is that these chips work best with other mods, such as the BBTB and decent exhaust.
For a chip only car, you'll get better allround performance and a happier engine. Can't say my MPG's have improved, but I do have a really wild chip so it was never an issue when I asked for it tbh.
These are not going to give much more than 5-10bhp ever, you need to add the others mods to get the most out of them.
But.....everyone will have diff opinions cos we all drive differently, best to try and see. I vote for the ZONE chips, my 2p anyway
Mark.

These are made in the states right? So they'll be based on there engines and fuel, which are underpowered and the fuel is a lower ron.fannyj wrote:so how good are they in comparison to the JimC chip ?
I would stick with a uk one, doubt the Jimc one would be as good over here.
This is based on my opinion, not fact by the way.
anyone know for sure?
