if you have a look arround alot of people on here are doing there own turbo conversions as we speak, there are no turbo "kits" for the 325i in the uk as our cars are rhd and the turbo/manifold conflicts with steering column, i dont know much about turbos on any engines but im sure someone will be along to help soon

It's not easy, and it's not cheap, but hopefully the results will justify the outlay!
BTW, if you want a small performance hike, ditch the K&N and refit the standard airbox with it's trumpet inplace!

Have a look at some of the posts in the forced induction section about 50 odd to have a look through, some good reading material. Start at the links page for some addictive reading that will leave you never wanting to drive a NA bmw again!

Seconded here too!
I have wondered though, if a cone filter adapted to fit inside the standard airbox+induction system would work well....

if you're feeling particularly saucy, you can compound charge your car,
IE fit both a turbo (for high end poke ) and a supercharger (for low end grunt)
with regards to the air filter issue-sell your cone filter-they do nothing for the engine.
keep the stock airbox and get a K&N panel filter if you must!
for making a pleasing induction sound-just drill a few small holes into the airbox in the side facing the FRONT of the car

I've bought a cone filter but not got round to fitting it yet,
I was thinking though, instead of fannying around making up a heat shield and fitting some decent ducting, which I already have, why not mount the cone directly behind the front grill? Surely no shortage of cold air and the increased lenght of the induction tract from filter to AFM may have a positive effect on top or bottom end poke (just not sure yet)
I have to give it a try at least, before reverting to my standard air box with K&N element

600bhp & 600 Nm of torque at 1.5 Bar. Theres a vid of it boosting 2 Bar, but they detuned it to make it useable!
Thats got to be worth a try.E30BeemerLad wrote:why not mount the cone directly behind the front grill? Surely no shortage of cold air and the increased lenght of the induction tract from filter to AFM may have a positive effect on top or bottom end poke (just not sure yet)
