Help - Wood Preservative on paintwork!

I've had some "overspray" of red woodstain (the type you put on garden fences) on my car. Recently, I've tried washing it off with Meguiars Gold Class Car Wash. That didn't shift it. I tried using the clay bar - still no joy. My Meguiars polish isn't making any difference either.
I don't really want to use T-cut, so has anyone got any ideas/recommendations??

What's the problem with T-Cut? it will be the only thing I would imagine that will remove the stain. On an off chance try some white spirit (I managed to spray pain the neighbours patio table unintentionally and white spirit got the stain off)

im with mark, if used a lot like every weekend it can damage your paint but its good at removing stuff like that

I might pop out and get some T-cut tomorrow then - but it's not like just one panel, the whole car is covered - even the windows!

What polish have you tried?

would be worth trying some Autoglym Super resin polish, work it in a fair bit and it should have enough bite to clear the overspray, it is worth a try before going down the T Cut route

Tried Meguiars Polish, but i didn't make any impact

Going to try Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover, if that doesn't shift it, I'm T-cutting!

The car got covered when my partners dad decided to spray his garden fence - it must have been windy as every panel is covered!

T-Cut isn't a bad thing as long as you don't use it every week. Super Resin Polish from Autoglym, or even their Paint Renovator should fetch it off though. If you use the Paint Renovator make sure you re-protect with the Super Resin Polish.

It's been snowing heavily here, so not made any progress on this - I have been advised to try Meguiars Scratch-X, rather than T-cut. Any comments?

Personally i would try Autoglym Super resin polish first if that doesnt work then use scratch x

I'm not sure I would try it myself but I just thought I would mention it

I can't see that petrol will hurt, but you really would have to use a good quality polish afterwards. The petrol would strip any wax that was protecting the paint.

super resin polish wont have the bite to remove the overspray, petrol would make short work of it, except for having to re polish the car afterwards, but i would defo use petrol if i had this problem

I work in a bodyshop and I would recommend a full machine buff with farecla g3 compound,it will cut any marks or overspray off for you,then make sure you give it a good wax,if you have a buff yourself make sure you mask all four trims up with tape as it marks and doesnt come off

The petrol is doing the trick!

Made a start on the bonnet and along one side and after letting the petrol soak in for a minute or two, it's softened up the wood-stain. Washed it off afterwards and will get the rest done on my next day off.

Reckon there's a lot of polishing and waxing to be done soon too!

Glad to hear your getting it off Grant,your car is always gleaming and i know it would of been doing your head in being soiled.
