my 2p

i've been in a 335 and they go like a really good 2.7 like Karans!

i would tune the 2.5 a touch.

I feel the 3.5 good if tuned up to 240,260bhp. Which is big money
plus they are well thirsty, thats what would put me off the most

but 3.5 is cheap to do

Wilson, sell your sport and let someone else continue with the pedigree.

Buy NEMO and chuck in the 3.5 - the legend continues! :D :D :D

sound's like you'v made your mind up allready mate, drop in the 3.5 and keep all the standard bits you dont need to use and if you want to sell the car as an "origonal looked after sport" just swap everything over again?
sounds like a lot of work actually

u cud always tune the 2,5.

btb manifold
alpina style exhaust
cams
bbtb
zone chip
afm

but this is expensive.

the 3.5 route is far far cheaper, but will upset the handling somewhat due to its extra weight right up front.

just please dont kill an M535i for it, use an e34 535i - the shark face e28 is too special.

Choas, what would you reckon to the 3.5 going in Nemo? Touring a bit heavier at the rear, therefore balances out the handling issue a bit.

Davetouring is selling a 3.5 out of an E34, also M3 prop and the engine mounts, all you need to get started, just need a gearbox and some other ancillaries

nemo is mycar and im skint hence why imselling everything to sort out debts and then i will start againwith a beter touring

be a while getting alpinas again but he thats life

andthe touring is the better balaced out of the e30s as it is so sticking a heaveyer engine up front will upset it
hence why i wanted to go the m52 2.8 lump

keeps the balance and with the right minds power to weight its quicker than an e36 m3 :D

well, i think an M30 in the front of a touring will upset handling less than it wud in other e30's
but it still wudnt be perfect.

best bet wud be an M52 2.8 or the 3.0 from an e46  as theyre alloy blocked and thus lighter.

oh and nemo isnt mine m8, it belongs to richy.

Same problem I had with mine. Keep and tune the 2.5 or S50 conversion.

In the end I gave in (and it sounds like youre about to as well) and started the conversion.
But I decided to make it a little more difficult and keep the car as it is. And by that I mean no modifications, cutting or hammering have been done to the car, all of the parts imported in have been modded to fit, so if I wanted to put the M20 back in tomorrow, I could.

That way if I ever decide to restore the Sport to original I can quite easily.

Im not sure how easy the M30 fits into an E30 (never done it or seen one), so doing it that way might not be possible. Have a word with Andy335i or Toby, they should be able to tell you more.

all those modes to gain how much bhp/tourq?? and cost how much :(

now i could pay Ԛ£900 suply and fit a 3.5, (special price for me) might upset the handeling but makes sense for that price methinks

it's my mechanics car that he is breaking an e28, another one bits the dust

i have been in it, and boy

JMC330i hammering?? cutting?? :( oh dear i will have to have a word with him

if i ever decide to go ahead with it

can i just say ive been in a couple of 35.s and they do NOT handle much worse as long as a good engine possiton is used,,,,,, in fact hartge with the h35/36 retained stock 325 weight distribution!!!!

so if u use position 3 u will be fine!!

and tobys 3.5 handles great!!!

For the S50 conversion, some of the guys in the USA do a bit of hammering to the bulkhead and notch the subframe a little to help fit the engine. I dont know exactly what they do cause it was never going to happen to my car, so I didnt take much notice. Like I said, my engine bay is exactly how it was when the M20 was in there.

I think Karan had to 'massage' part of the engine bay to fit his M5 motor, and I think some is needed to fit the M30 in the preferred 'position 3', but I dont know enough about it to say for 100%.

I reckon you should go ahead with it, especially for that price you said.
And like you said, "it would be a complete Sport".

do u mean shove as in power? if so YES they feel very very quick!
or do u mean 'shovel' as in 'push on' in corners'?- if so, NO they dont if a good engine position is used

makes it a fast car

but lots of fiddling to make it all sweet so it drives like a standard e30, it won't be perfect after a week.

outright power isn't huge but you get more thump-in-the-back than even a highly tuned m20 like karan's

mine will just quietly chirrup the rear tyres in the dry when changing from 3rd to 4th gear if you're really hammering it and that's with an lsd
