simply remove the old one and fit used one in working condition...believe me it's easiest to do...I done that and no more problems and they are cheap enough from scrappieswarner325 wrote:hi i have a 1990 325i touring e30 about a month or 2 ago my blower stoped working so i got to it and it was just a little stiff so i greased it up with 3in1 oil and it runs fine it still do.But when its on speed 4 you can smell burning out of the vents then after a few seconds it cuts out it will work again if i turn the knob and back again what could this be any info if possible will be grate regard scott

Burning smell may just be a bit of excess oil getting onto the motor commutator and brushes.
It'll probably go away in a while.

Only on speed 4 would indicate its a problem with the heater motor itself and not the resistor... the fan is run off the resistor on speeds 1-3, plenty of heater motors around. Try a scrappy, or if in more of a hurry I got one from e30partz.com which works grand - probably a little on the expensive side but I got it quick and they delivered to me in Ireland cheap enough so was happy with that!
