Midlands meet come on guys???? Update 18/02/09

Us midlander's can't let the southern softies have all the fun and go to regular meets i.e Ace Cafe, surely we must be able to come up with a regular venue that is easily assessible for us, Jes*s they drive from miles to go here..................

Now i'm prepared to find one and try and organise this on a regular basis, so come on guys, let show these shandy drinkers that we can get together and organise something more in the midlands other than a Birmingham council car park and somewhere you would'nt even let your worst enemy buy an E30 from...........

This can't be that difficult can it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was late summer 2002, my first effort. Dudley Arms at Himley. One car came from Southampton. Only 7 cars. But 3 months later we had 40 cars at a meet.

I'm up for this too as a regular meet would be good.
Problem is finding somewhere that's similar to the "Ace Cafe"

Great, hope to get more than the three of us interested .

First things first i suppose, need to come up with some ideas about a venue, i.e one thats

i) Car friendly towards clubs etc
ii) Decent sized car park
iii) Easy to get too, good access from all parts of the midlands
iv) Access to amenities, i.e toilets, food, drink (non alcoholic of course)
vi) Somewhere undercover and open to a decent hour

Not much to ask for, for starters anyway

Somewhere with a beer garden, great on those late summer nights, sit outside close to the cars.........

There aren't a lot of places like that round by me to be honest.

If it's like 7 - 8 cars then a local pub is fine, the landlords don't take a lot of notice. Anymore than that and they start asking questions.

On the scale of things we will probably want to achieve i'm pretty sure it will all have to be arranged with any venue we would want to use up front first, dates, times expected numbers all sorted in advance...

Yep, know where that is, have to pass nearly everyday on the way to my office in Balsall Common, will have to call in and speak to the manager, yer know case the joint.

Good access to the motorways as well, plus some nice driving roads nearby...good call Rav, worth a punt me thinks

Yeah, pass that nearly everyday, gets em all the time, usually doing about seventy until they clap eyes on it, then sudden application of the anchors and cruise past at fourty five
