how difficult is it to proform this swap and what are the parts needed?thanks in advance

Quite straight forward you will need;

Engine (complete), gearbox with shift linkage, exhaust, rad, oil cooler, ECU, & prop.

This lot will get you going you can then also upgrade the brakes, diff, ARB's & suspension to 325i spec.

As luck would have it I have all the above available if you are interested winkeye

Already done, apart from the diff, if the 318 happens to be a cab or a touring.
You will need to add mounts for the coolant resevoir bottle, and modify/change the mounting bracket for the air filter.

thanks so far.i am in barbados and looking to do the swap soom just gathering parts.

True but the front springs will still need changing to 6cyl items....

Easiest thing for you to do would be to buy a complete 325i to strip for the bits you need.....

Do you have a saloon or cab? You wont have a Touring unless it's been imported.

i have a saloon.there is one touring in barbados and there are not that many e30's still alive here for me to get a donor car.will the m40 gearbox fit the m20 engine
