After renew all the shifter parts in my e30 I would like to add a shortshift lever...maybe from E36 M3, Z3 1.9...nothing extreme, just more useful than standard
problem is...I can't see any pics how it looks in real or some video to see how short the throws are...
here is mine original shifter after rebuild

can someone post their shortshifters, I wanna see how short are they

the z3 is not very extreme at all it shortens the throw by about 30% i think its just a good all round shifter for every day driving. if you want something extreme go for the z4m shifter that is very very short only about an inch and half from first to second

 Looks like fun...

I've got a B&M race shifter bought back in the day before I discovered the zone :? cost about 6 times that of the Z3 conversion but the shift is super short and precise. I'll get a photo to show how short the shift is tomorrow.

The z3 1.9 is the one to go for IMO. The trouble with getting a shorter throw is the change becomes stiffer and notchier, particularly when the box is cold, the 1.9 lever is a considerable improvement in throw, but still retains a good feel.

using a normal Z3 (non m) on my track car, but i have rasied the shifter to bring closer to the steering wheel..

it feels brilliant on both road/track... not to extreme/ not notchy, iv noticed with the cheap crap on ebay you cant get into gear espesh when cold !

stick to geuine BMW parts that cost the same price (£24.50 if i remember correct) and work far better!

I bought an EVO 3 short shifter from UUC Motowerks. They're a work of art.

Have a look at the info and animations at:

http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/

Image

Some Info:

Upper section is alloy steel, acoustically isolated from lower section.

100% compatible with all original BMW shift knobs including illuminated knobs.

For custom-tailored ergonomics, the height-adjustable design raises or lowers top section. This allows changes from original height to as much as 3/4" lower.

Locking collar for height adjustment.

Single-piece T-304 stainless steel lever is the strongest shifter available with integral pivot ball (not welded on).

Completely self-contained and self-adjusting primary pivot bearing assembly positions the shifter assembly perfectly for ideal linkage alignment. Uses stainless steel pivot ball for ultimate wear-free use and smoothness.

If you go any shorter your fingers get trapped when you put it into 1st and 3rd
