Well as i have a bit of a fetish for all things "moredoor" i couldnt resist this particular little gem i stumbled across on another thread on the zone, it caught my eye, and i had to have a look at it in the flesh at least.

It's a 1989 325i SE that the first owner lavished a huge amount of money on in options as you will see below. the car was orignally purchased at Sytners in Nottingham.

BMW 325i SE (electric sunroof, 4 x electric windows, central locking, 13 button OBC, green tinted glass, etc)

List Price £18,925.00, plus following options:

In no particular order:

leather £866.00
Red Piping £500.00, not sure about that cost but thats whats written down..
M Tech suspension £159.00, again not sure about this..
Heated mirrors, and door locks £86.00
Dechomed (shadowline trim) £232.00
Rear window blind £100.00
Sports Seats £455.00
Heated front seats £234.00
M Tech bodykit inc rear spoiler £1200.00
Alpina 16" wheels & ZR rated tyres £2000.00
Pioneer music system, inc 6 cd changer and amp in boot £1000.00, fitted by Sytners, Nottingham
Special paint (M3 Misano Red) £361.00
Alpina 4 spoke steering wheel £?
Alpina Gearknob £50.00
"Alpina" badge on boot £?
"C2 2.5" badge on boot £?

Total purchase price an amazing £26,620.00 approx 8O 8O

From what i can gather the original purchaser bought this for his wife, and wanted the external appearance of an Alpina but without the engine mods etc.

After a good poke about it was found to be a very solid car with very little to worry about in the rust department :D :D

84,000 miles with full service history, nearly all MOT's, and nearly every single invoice from Sytners Nottingham and the then Alan Karr dealership in Warwick :D :D

There are a few niggily faults that need sorting, and its needs a good service at the same time.

All in all i think i have got as close to a "sport" as i could get in a moredoor (obviously missing the black headlining, map light mirror and LSD, which can easily be sorted :D ) for less than half what you'd pay for a "sport" in this kind of condition and mileage..................

Now for the pictures.......

Image

Image
You can make out the 84 moredoor project in the garage :D, those white stickers in the windows read " BMW Alarm fitted by Sytners Nottingham"

Image
Not sure about what to do with the Alpina badge yet?????, but am deffo gonna re-instate the BMW boot badge thou :D

Rear blind...... :D
Image

Interior..., may not be to everybody's taste........
Image

Image

Image

M3 style rear seats as well, not seen that before in a 4 door......., and yes the bottom bench is a proper 4 door one, must have been specially made to order i think.....
Image

Door cards also received the leather and piping treatment
Image

Mileage :D
Image

£1000.00 pounds worth of stereo equipment in 1989.....
Image

Image

Found this in boot....
Image

Paint code (i think), no idea what it says thou
Image

And of course the must have engine bay shot
Image

This car has made an appearance on the zone in another thread, but did'nt get much interest, luckily for me that is..

http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... highlight=

I had thought about going the full hog with this, proper alpina front and rear spoilers, alpina stripes, broad silver would look good and some fresh C2 2,5 badges front and back, or keep as is, but just remove the old alpina badges on the boot and fit new 325i badge, what do you think.

With the history documenting the car as it is, I'd keep it exactly like "standard".

Its a "special interest" car, very nice!

What a cool car and looks very clean in the pics.
Id be tempted to keep it as the original spec sheet but a maplight mirror and LSD are nice add ons that could easilly be reversed,Black headlining is a different story.

Interesting car :? You sure you're not looking at a C2.5? Wouldn't explain why the original spec sheet doesn't state it though. Maybe a call to Sytners to find out a little more? That Pioneer system is the one listed in the 1989 options list with the CDX-M70(?) multi play.

Rang Sytners, they couldnt find it on their database anywhere, have looked at ecu, looks like a standard one, no alpina badges, would the part number for the ecu help here.

Rocker cover and manifold normal factory colour, standard exhaust manifold.

I'll get a picture another time but on the b pillar it looks like as the car was having the Alpina 16" wheels and the 205 tyres, Sytners stuck a green alpina tyre presure label over the original one, it states model as B3 2.7, if only hey...................... :D :D

I have all the manuals for the stereo they are as follows:

Head unit: Pionee KEX-M700B
Power Amplifier : Pioneer GM-1000
Stereo Main Amplifier: Pioneer GM-41A
Multi-Play Compact Disc Player: CDX-M100

Wow, that's very nice - always good to keep something unique with history like this standard in my opinion. Like eko said, no harm in adding stuff like map light mirror and LSD that could be easily reversed if necessary.

Nice find :thumb:

The ECU would have alpina markings so it sounds like a standard 2.5.

The cam cover in inlets on C2.5's were standard as per 325i's. It was the C2 2.7's that had the painted items.

So it seems a hybrid from new then.

CDX100?? Not seen one of them before.

Looking nice and fresh,i think that is Misano red? can't be sure though?

Not bowled over by the interior, but if every car was the same,it would be a very boring world!

Looks like a nice car though, very original, not that many left in that sort of original condition.

Looks stunning. I'd rather have this over a sport.

If you bought this car today new it would have cost you £47,740!!!

So the feeling i'm getting is keep it as it is, what about the alpina badges, should i get new ones as per its original build sheet, or get rid and fit a 325i badge instead :?

Nothing of any use left really, the "C2 2.5" badge is just the "C", rough as well, the "Alpina" badge looks crap close up, and is damaged slightly where somebody tried to remove it previously.... new badges required.
