BMW museum (munich)

Myself and a few close e30 mates are trying to organise a trip to munich bmw in May, I was just wondering if anyone as done this and how far is this the museum from the airport.

I have been, and would recommend the 'factory tour' it was the highlight for our group.

It takes about 25 mins from the airport to drive or can get there on the s-bahn and u-bahn( trains), its easy and does not take long. Well worth a trip there.

for anyone that's thinking of going, bit of info

stansted airport easy-jet £48.70p/p return trip, leaves at 08.00 in the morning get there for 09.45 just in time for it to open, spend all day there last plane back 21.30 back at stansted for 23.10.

to get in the museum e12.00 or e9.00 each for a party of 5.

Having worked in the Automotive Industry and even in a production environment. It was referred to as "Production Line" and the places people were asigned to were "Stations" and it was in a "Production Hall"

very simple to get there from the airport using their equivilant of the tube/undergorund. i was located in the city centre Marienplatz and took the U3 heading north , get off at the Olympic Park, and its a 2 minute walk from there

from the airport, you'd meed the S8 to Marianplatz, then change to the U3

Not quite days worth there, but a good half day at least in the musem and BMW Welt.

you can get a train to the alpina factory, its about 30 mins form the central station.

if you do decide to go, its worth going as an over night stop and enjoy the local beers aswell

Local "Elles" is excellent. And no hangover!!!

There are no chemicals in the local brews.


But try the Dunkel Weissbier. It is also very good.

i dont really recall the names of the Bier Kellers i walked into, but there was one huge one by the main square, Oomph Band, large Steins you get the idea. walked in for a late lunch and beer, and at some stage i made it back to the hotel

a word of advise for any visitors, you have to carefull of some of the basement kellers, they turn to gay bars in the evenings

well, its worth warning people before they find them selfs in a bar they didnt want to go into. hanover, hamburg all have bars that end up like that at night. just the way it is, and its generally accepted. many years ago, my friends and i were refused entry because we were not gay. we unknowingly just thougth it was an other bar, and from that day are cautious which bars we go to

Hopfbrauhas , quite possible. lowenbrau was going down too well for me to pay any real notice of the name of the place
