ie. if i bought a cheap 316 saloon or touring could i use to replace all parts on my 325i sport. obviously the engine will be different but would some engine parts be similar?
If your getting it for a few engine bits, it's not worth it since there is only one or two things that are the same in the engine bay like the battery and viscous fan... and even the battery will be in the boot of the sport, lol.
A touring would have the same struts, brakes etc alright if you needed stuff like that.
If the body of a saloon was pefect and in the same colour it might be of use to you if you had a few rust spots in doors or wings etc...
Otherwise, I'd just keep an eye on the parts for sale section when it opens again for the few bits you need

a 316i saloon and a 316i touring are vastly different beasts, although about the only engine parts that will be of use to a 325 from either are the relays, fan and air filter element.
316i saloon body panels and interior trim will fit a 325, but some of the trim is of an inferior quality.
316i touring front end body panels and trim will fit a 325, along with the brakes and suspension, apart from the springs.

what about seats
touring front seats wont forward to allow access to the rear seats in a 2 door and the rear seats from a touring will only fit a touringconstruct_06 wrote:what about seats

But two door front seats go nicely in a Touring because you can flip the seats forward for access/load area or even sleeping if you are desparate
E30 Touring 0.35 cD - more slippery than prison soap
