My M30 did very similar, though it would never restart for love nor money after that first five minutes. After advice on here, I cleaned up the coil connections, and the dizzy rotor and all been perfect since.
Other possibles are the crank position sensor, and the coolant temp sensor (blue on the M30).
Martin.

*disclaimer* having never so much as looked at an S50 I'm not really qualified to answer but it sounds to me like there could be a component overheating in the ECU. Does it get particularly warm/hot and perhaps have a smell to it?
There's a few S50 and general gurus about who will have some good advice but it might be worth at least checking for the above.

Get the Crank position Sensor checked out if this is faulty the car will not start.
It could be getting hot and breaking down.

I have heard that when the ECU is remounted on these conversions it can lead to it overheating due to lack of airflow. i guess you could try taking off any plastic or sound deadening around the ECU and see if this helps, if it does then its a good chance this is the problem
