the guy is moving up north and has 3 cars to take with him already, so he had a genuine reason to be desperate to get rid of it. he had no interest at all because it was just before christmas and everyones minds are on other things, so i robbed it off him and 2.5k

i gotta finish that supercharger thing firs and get a few track days in
most of the funds will come from selling or breaking the iS anyway. gotta admit that it's gonna be sad moving away from the e30s but as soon as i move somewhere with some space to keep a project off the road I'll be building a nice e30 track car
E46 M3 CSL but dreaming of another E30.

i had a quote for a e36 m3 evo and they wanted £800 fully comp... not too bad mees thinks... £680 for the 3ltr m3.... i think the evo would be on the cards for me... 0 - 60 5.5 seconds limited to 155mph.
2.5k for the 3ltr is a steal!! looks wise is there nothing that distinguishes the evo from the 3ltr?? i was thinking about getting another car and taking my e30 off of the road.
an excuse to buy the schnitzer split rims

i love this machine! its awesome, i miss the E30 though it had more road feeling etc but i reckon a good set of coilovers and polybushes with bring back some of the feel!

E36 M3 is what I'm having after my e30 fetish is placated.
Unless I can find the cash for an e30 m3 that is.. Or too much time passes and I just plump for a 9.5k E46 M3 - they're popping their heads up these days!

As I said on e36coupe Gibbo, you fucker I wanted that one lol. Would of been the perfect step up from my cosmos 328i sport.
Re the evo vs non evo argument. Yes the evo is a little quicker, and it stops a little better, but it handles worse (fact BMW introduced positive camber front mounts to tame the oversteery nature for lame ass middle aged business men, this can be sorted by swapping front top mounts side to side) and costs twice as much to insure.
I had a 3.0, my mate had a evo.
There was very little difference performance wise. Evos very rarely make their claimed 321 bhp unlike 3.0s which are mostly spot on to their 286. I drove both and had been head to head once or twice down Thunder road lol.
If your young and struggle with insurance buy the best 3.0 you can, if not just buy the best m3 you can. Both have pros and cons.

i've decided i quite fancy swapping the lancia for an e36 m3 so we can have a proper family motor.
a 4door would make most sense, but i'd love one of the red GT2s, would look great next to the e30.
do the coupes have a middle seatbelt in the back?

Sorry Mike! it was only about 2 miles from my house i had to have it! the idle was all over the place when i first got it so i feared Vanos issues or maybe inlet side air leak, and i found it, little black blanking rubber was missing on the 2nd throttle body. but it still didnt idle correctly. however yesterday i undid the battery whilst fitting my council sub and amp and when i plugged it back on it idled like shit for about 3 minutes while it relearnt itself, now its smooth as silk! epic win!

Who would ever have thought that an E30 M3 would be worth more than the E36 M3? I mean some upto 3 times more.
I like the E36 M3's and as mentioned they're going for silly money. Considering that they were circa. 40k+ when new there's certainly a lot of car to be had now for stupid money.

I like E36 M3's - drove a P reg Evo when they first came out - quickest car I have ever driven, awesome stopping power too. Only issue with the one I drove was that the clutch was very fierce. I've driven loads of cars and can usually jump in anything and just drive it but this was very tricky to pull away.
Nice car anyway gibson - for what you paid for it you parctically stole it off him !

Not particulary heavy - there was just no bite point as such at all - it was either on or off ! Took some getting used to !
May just have been because it was still a very new car when I drove it - I don't know whether clutches need time to "bed in".

Driven the E39 M5 but not an E36 M3.
I can't remember the clutch on that - only the biggest smile....and the sound of the V8 of course....
One of life's little pleasures.

prices are just silly a the moment but can't see them dropping much more. and yes, as others have said it's crazy that e30 m3 prices are climbing, yet e36 ones are going through the floor for a car substantially faster, better built (rustproofed anyway) and easier to live with.
i looked on autotrader the other day and the cheapest e30m3 was on there for £10k, which will buy you a half decent e46m3 now

the clutch is pretty fierce on it. but i guess it has to be to transfer 300bhp without blowing itself to pieces, i drive 10+ different cars a day and can literally drive anything from the off, but even i noticed that the clutch has a savage kick to it.capri_rob wrote:I like E36 M3's - drove a P reg Evo when they first came out - quickest car I have ever driven, awesome stopping power too. its easy to get used to. remember when you were learning to drive and you had to put alot of thought into operating the clutch smoothly, its like that at first but you learn it

Exactly! Saying that though, the e30 m3 is quite dearly priced, it doesnt mean all those m3s for sale at the moment will sell at those prices.harry_p wrote:

Its a different story how much a car is valued at and how people are willing to pay for it.
Dreaming of the day I purchase an E30 M3

the evo needs a braided clutch hose fitted as the standard rubber one is not up to the job. if you look on e36coupe theres loads of write ups of people having it done. i had it fitted to mine and it makes soooo much difference.capri_rob wrote:I like E36 M3's - drove a P reg Evo when they first came out - quickest car I have ever driven, awesome stopping power too.
