Hi,

Can anyone recommend a rolling road in the North West, pref Liverpool, Manchester or North Wales area? One that would be accurate rather than tell me a great story to make me feel delighted with 250bhp from a standard 325i ... 8O

Also what BHP have Zoners with 325's had on the rolling roads?

Whitegates garage in Stockport has a rolling road, and Ric who runs it is a racer - BARC NW saloon car series and Dutch supercars. While you're there you might get a tour of the facilities including the racing cars stashed away upstairs.

I think around 165bhp is realistic for a 100K+ late, low compression 325i engine.

All the ones I have seen, have made about 160-167. This is on Sheps rollers which are regarded to be accurate.

John Clarkson Autos, Chorley Lancs. PR6 0QQ Tel 01257 263879.

Latest Dastek rolling road (even does 4wd)

Andrew Clarkson is the man to ask for. They mapped and looked after my rally cars.

My latest project will go there when it is built.

Rollers are acurate and tamperproof and the Clarksons are honest and won't bullshi£ you.

The old man John is an Ex Rallycross BDA pedaller.

There are no RR's in Chester now that J&J's on Black Diamond Street has gone.

My Dad always uses Pete Morgans place in Gresford, near Wrexham (which is about 60 minutes from Holyhead). He is very good and involved in circuit racing and karting.

I have used used Awesome in Warrington, Cheshire for VAG stuff in the past but they do seem to have a 'big number' dyno as everything on there seems to give more power than expected. Its about 2 hours from Holyhead.

I can get hold of Pete Morgans details and contact number if you need them.

Also got the Dastek 4wd dyno.

Was the first dyno in the area back in the early 90s. Very good local reputation.

Agreed, Paul is very good and has also turned out to be right in all the advise I have asked him reguarding M20 tuning and has proved so on his rollers!

BTW Jon remember my sport made 160BHP at the last track day? It had a BBTB and that shite Alpina C2.5 chip that is doing the rounds and I said I could feel the loss in power after I fitted the pair. Well I returned it to standard and took it back to Paul and it made 170BHP :D

Really sweet M20 in that car, even Jonb thought it went really well, definately one of the best I have had over the years.....
