Update noted.
How much, if any, of the database will be lost? For example, if someone starts a thread 20 seconds before the site goes off, will that thread (ie everything) be carried over to the new database? Or is there a cut-off point for what will be carried over? If so, how long before site-off is the cut-off? Cheers.

I'd say that the DB would be carried across 100%. Procedure will most likely be old zone access off, db backup, migration, hard work, new zone on.
Sam with regards to the wiki yes I can see how it's a bit of a pain but overall the wiki is the best option for getting content expanded. Currently everything is hand-reviewed by myself and there are a few members who regularly fettle, tweak and contribute. As it grows more mods will be brought in to keep everything in order.
Every time an update is made I get a notification and I have access to block spamming IP addresses and revert wrong / poor editing.
One possibility is to have a link to all the zone articles up on the wiki home page - all of the info should be in there now. I know there was a couple of hiccups moving across and I'll hold my hands up to apologies for them

A link would be cool, Wiki is needed to handle the potential volume. A tech page with 50 stickies would be daft!!

Can I just say that

looks like a whole heap of turd! I mean come on devs what on earth is that e30tech copy?
On a slightly less cynical note. Hat's off to you guys I mean it's not like you're getting 60k a quarter for the chance to revamp the zone, but I know of highly skilled web nerds on half the minimum wage who can produce more imaginative forums than that. Surely it's a very badly chosen halfway house..?
Don't do to the zone, the same that the bavarian accountants did when the e36 was conceived!
I must appologise for my very critical input and I'm not slating the team, but the project needs canning!! Flippin eck as an IT professional, I'd be ashamed to roll this one out. Sorry but shoot me down and call me a tw4t but it'll be a shame to loose what has been a very stable (until recent times) and user compliant forum.
It'll be sadly missed guys.. What are you doing!!!!!???

Now it makes sense.. Top notch chaps it looks rather good.. The other board thing I picked of this thread was like a step back in time.. Anyway, nothing like getting a bit of banter going
Chris - I know nirvana wrote a song called lithium, and it works well in batteries, but please expand as to what you're implying..
Lithium, in various formats, is a universal drug for a range of mental health disorders. It's useful because it can stabilise the chemical imbalances of mania and depression, as well as being a useful supplement with other anti-depressants, to increase effectiveness of both drugs. This is hence the Nirvana song.Barx325i wrote:Chris - I know nirvana wrote a song called lithium, and it works well in batteries, but please expand as to what you're implying..
Not that I'd know...
Back on topic! Less than a week to go!
He was implying that you're mad. Lithium is used to treat some mental disorders such as the manic effects of bi-polar disorder where people might suddenly fly off the handleBarx325i wrote:ahhh!! machine I used last night didn't (and won't have) flash so no youtube.d6dph wrote:Whoops, Got a little confuzzled there Barx

I just dreamed that I turned on my computer and noticed the Zone looked different and then looked at the date and it said Jan 23rd. I'm I going mad. Also last night I woke up in the bathroom, must of fell and knocked my self out.
What a weird night.
What a weird night.
Just to let everyone know that we have installed the new server for E30zone this afternoon. It has now been handed over to the Steve and the team.
I think its Narayan by The Prodigy, a tad speeded up.
