Mine also does just to say touch the sensor but nothing dangerous or to worry about :D
I'm sure you're not because I had to do something similar to find it.

Glad it's not just mine that rubs a bit though.

Cheers. Hopefully I'm going up to Demon Tweaks on Saturday if I'm still stuck after that I'll give you a shout.

What have you got?

How does the pressure valve sound going to atmosphere on a S/C

In short.. Awful.

One of those little plastic valves just doesn't flow enough and at idle the charger is really loaded up which isn't good because then it obviously whines a lot more.

I'm fitting two of the above valves and I'll let you know how well i get on with that. However, even that won't be a long term solution as these valves don't like being held open - I've already had one die on me.

I'm going to be getting a forge one from work. Could enquire as to whether I can get another for you if ya like?

Think I'm paying £60 odd instead of £150 winkeye

Ok so I got all the pipework in and IC in, got it on the dyno and did some basic mapping.

Hit a best run of 209bhp @ 5800rpm. There's a few things outstanding though before it can really be used properly.

Need to remove a headlamp to get more air over the IC

Need to fix up a much better bypass system.

Need to get some bigger injectors. Current ones are maxing out badly.

Aside from that, it's working really well. Pulls great. First and second are pretty vicious :D

I've got just a little Renault 5 IC.

Do you know what intake temps you were getting after a hard run on a cool day, on the road rather than rollers?

My mate came up and has taken some great pictures and a video of it on the dyno. I'll post as soon as he gives them to me. When back in the UK at the weekend I'll post the dyno run too.

Ash, can you not squeeze the usual volvo or saab intercooler on there? They are good enough to flow nearly 300bhp going on our 200sx and other peoples experience. Minimal chopping, if any is required. Search some of the original turbo threads by Ant, he was probably the first to use one on this board. They will be right at the front of the car then.

I guess you have got yours behind the NS headlight as you don't have abs?

That's right Jon, NS headlamp, no ABS.

I shouldn't need something that big. I'm only running 6odd PSI - I wanna try the headlamp thing first as it keeps all the pipework neatly to one side of the car and saves me from buying another IC and loads more pipe, plus the fitting effort.

Yeah I'm wondering if there's some kind of mailable plastic stuff I could form to make a funnel from the headlamp to the IC too. Just to make sure the air flows through it rather than around it.

I can't wait for the pictures too! I've not even seen them myself yet.

I'm also thinking for the air intake, rather than go 90deg down to by the gear box, I might be better to bend up and put a little bonnet vent in the top :D

Just a thought you could use my old bonnet with the vent on, you could mount your intercooler from the old airbox mounts, right up to it so the airs got to go through it.

You wouldnt need to change your head lights either. An there would be less pipework. Win win

An i get my old bonnet out the garage. :D

Indeed sir you make a good point :D

I reckon there's a bit more in there somewere. I thought Matt was getting 8-10 on his but I've not seen more than about 6. Probably it's leaking through all kinds of bodgery

On a 20c day june time ish my inlet temp was 44c after a hard run or 48 when it was on the rollers, on the way to santa pod last year (sept time) on the motorway at a steady 75 it was running 46c.

Hope that helps.
With no cooling it was doing 70c after a run.

Forgot about the colour! Lol

Well if you want to try it first you can do at least you'll know. Cooled my charger down loads you could even leave your hand on it, which you couldnt do before even for seconds.

How hard was it to fit? What tools did you need? I think it's worth fitting on anyway :)

Your intake temps are not all that far off mine which I thought were a bit high.

Did you have pinking on the 70deg no-cooling dyno run?

Don't suppose you'd post me your spark table would you? I'd like to compare it to my guesstimated bodgery.

I'm looking at maybe using an electornic wastegate for a bypass valve. That would allow me to have Megasquirt map the onset of boost and they easily go up to 50/60mm too.

Cheers but I'm pretty certain the just getting some air flowing over the one I've got will help - although that remains to be seen so maybe I'll be eating my words by next week when I've done some testing sans-headlamps :)

Ya ill send you the info when i get back off site.

Only ran it on standard bmw management with no cooling to prove it worked. But it didnt pink or pull as well as when it was mapped.

The bonnets 6 bolts an a clip easy to swop but it does need two of you. To do it safely an not dint anything :D

Is this timing table from the dyno?
done using load for each cell?

advance at 100kpa seems low.

Hey Gunni. That's not really a fully dyno mapped table. A few areas were retarded for getting rid of knock but the rest was pretty much guesstimated.
