All

After replacing the head lining of my touring (worst job ever!) I noticed two holes at the rear which weren't on my old sagging lining. What on earth goes in here, I can only think of some kinda cage for the boot. Anyone know if I can get some blanking plates?

Cheers for any help, I've just found the zone and its already got me thru my MOT, I've a few more questions yet :D

They're for the catches for the dog guard. Any tips on replacing the lining? Mine's filthy and has to go!

MIND YOUR FINGERS!!!!!!!!

I got my lining from a breakers somewhere in east london (Mr BMW????) and the bloke kept going on about been carefull of your fingers, as the bits round the sunroof are very very sharp.

He wasn't joking, its lethal I only managed one mega slice, you should have seen the state of his fingers!

I'd give it a wash first see if that helps, it really was a pig of a job. Oh and how enteraining trying to get it home, I had to have it sat on my head the whole way home as it kinda the same legnth as the interior ;)

No sunroof, so that's not a problem. How did you fix the new lining?

No sunroof, you're laughing then. I must admit it was last summer I did it, but other than the sunroof it was sort of straight forward. Just remove everything thats attached to the roof, handles, sun visors everything and I think your need to remove the plastic side pilars and unclip some of the plastic surround, then it just slides off.

I'd get the replacement first and then you can see the location of the hooks on the underside of the new one, and the sliding business will make more sense.

Good luck

The dog guard is retractable and pulls out vertically from the load cover casing. I'm not sure if you can get blanks for it, but if you put in the actual catches it would look better.

I think you're best option is to fit the catches as datourer says, as tourings don't have the cutout's, only if you're fitting a dog guard will you then cut the holes in the lining. Maybe keep an eye out for a combined dog guard/load cover instead?

Sounds like changing the lining is going to be pretty easy for you datourer, are you going with the anthracite (black) headlining?
I'm going to go for it sometime..

depends on availability. I was thinking of buying new until i saw the price  . I guess i'd be pretty lucky to find an anthracite headlining for a tourer, with no sun roof at a breakers. Time to put some overtime in!

Well they're still available according to the etk, price is about 200-230gbp, and yes, finding one in a breakers would be like finding a nun in a knocking shop.
