So, i signed up to this forum in the hope of purchasing a new engine for my slightly rusted but not terribly dead BMW 316 E30, Planning to put a 325 Carbed engine in it. The problem is now, the headgasket has failed and the engine is full of water, Oil is brown and the car runs like a bad day at the pub, Lumpy and spewing up oil. I was just going to heave it right into the for sale section, wich is locked, But maybe someone could offer advice on Engien swaps, as after all, Replacing the engien would get rid of the need for head gasket work

Be good to hear from someone

Despite loving the original 2.5 unit a lot, I can't see why you would not go straight to an M50 (engine from an E36) in your situation. I would check out that rust on your shell before you go to the trouble, or it could end up only lasting a couple of years...

Theres a 4 inch hole by the differential mount mnothing i can't patch myself if i could get a jack under it. and one door is slighly caved and rusty, Again, easy swap. just don' knwo if its worth spending £1000's on a car thats been written off twice, i just really like the colour

8O must be a really nice colour

imo id start again it sounds as if you'd spend less buying a nice 325 as you would sorting out the problems with the one you have before you start changing engines..

if its a 4 door I've got a very good 4 door shell btw
