Unplug the control module (in LH compartment), and see if it runs when you connect the purple/red to the black/yellow, with the ignition in position 1.

Does it park in the same place every time, or in random places?

Mine does that... but after a random, unspecified amount of time it goes back to where it should be.

The wiper parking position is controlled by a microswitch mounted on the wiper's gearbox cover. The microswitch earths the black/red wire that connects to pin 31b of the control module.
Pull off the plug from the control module, link the purple/red and black/yellow wires together, so that the wiper runs continuously, and connect a resistance/continuity meter between the black/red wire and earth (brown wire). The microswitch should switch every time the wiper reaches the park position.

I washed my Touring the other day and noticed that the wiper works perfectly now, so I suspect a bit of white grease around the spindle might help on mine. It always works, but since I cleaned the car (and the back window was properly filthy - my work is based on a farm) it's been spot on. :-)
