i had a powerflow backbox on my old 320i and that was really loud but fitted well and no problems with it
but being a custom exhaust you can tell them how loud you want it anyway

...has a Scorpion bit in the middle. I like the sound of it, and that is very high praise indeed, since normally I utterly despise noisy rumbling back boxes on any car, and would, if I could, eliminate all exhaust noise. It's not overly loud, so if you want something council and annoying to everyone including yourself, then the Powerflow probably isn't going to do it for you like an aftermarket Subaru bean-can amplifier fartbox will.

I have one too on the iS (Was already on it when I got it), Sounds very good indeed with people always asking me is it more than a 1.8
Lovely rumble at idle witht he advanced cam too and great roar at the high end of the rev range but is pretty unobtrusive when cruising along at 50-70mph or so.
The fit is awful however since whoever made the hangers did a sh!te job...
I'm getting a supersprint half-system soon anyway so I'll be happy

powerflow is dependent on whether the fitting franchise is up to the job or not. ive seen really good and ive seen shocking. i paid about £600 for my custom system ,each half made by 2 different garages. the front half was taken back and redone to a better standard after i had a closer look. plus theyed used a 2" pipe by mistake...the back half was a lovely job.

i have powerflow back box and centre section. initially i thought it was too loud on my 325 but when it gets into the high revs its so addictive.
just keep the window up and the radio up on the motoray!
it was on the car when i got it and it will not be coming off!

I have to agree with Fuzzy on this. It's all according to where you tke your car to have it done. Some of the agents do a brilliant job and there fitters/fabricators are top notch. But you could go to an agent and the fitter/fabricator was out on the razzle the night before, doesn't like his job anyway, and the car ain't going in his garage....... I think you get the picture.
When a Powerflow is done properly it will take some beating.....

It doesn't look like it does in my sig pic anymore
Thanks guy's, Well I don't wont it chavey lol it sounds a bit like that at the mo but can sound ruddy good on a run.
But I would like to do the odd track day so it has to be with in the desabels,

Avoid speedy bumps at all costs.. the stainless used is poor quality and paper thin.. I had my centre section replaced after it split open like a coke can. The hangers also are a total afterthought as per above. My iS came with one fitted and it lasted all of 3 weeks.
Get a custom job - preferably from a reputable fabricators - full powerflow systems are about £400 and IMHO a total waste! Custom systems are a bit more but at least it'll fit and clear speed bumps.
Demon Tweeks took great pleasure in telling me how a "lifetime guarantee" (what a joke) is void as
a) I didn't purchase it
b) it wasn't a manufacture defect
Powerflow as much as they sound good are a manufacture defect. There's my tuppence worth..

Well I don't wont it chavey (havent managed to do the quote bit yet)!
its all in how you drive it there is no point driving round town at 30 mph in 2nd.
just dont be blipping the throttle round people for no reason! better for mpg if you are driving with manners until you get the chance to use it properly!
All depends on back box design of course.

I couldnt agree more, I've had a couple of turds with powerflow zausts on and they are shocking when you compare with a Scorpian for example.Barx325i wrote:+1I have one too on the iS (Was already on it when I got it), Sounds very good indeed with people always asking me is it more than a 1.8

Needless to say the cars were quickly decounciled and the zausts served up
Yep, my powerflow backbox has a nice big dent in the bottom of it after somehow hitting something
It started rattling during the year so was going to bring it upto Dublin to the Irish agent which seemed pretty decent on the phone and said he'd sort it for me.
The rattle seemed to stop then however so I didn't do any more about it. Think I might bring it in to get it fitted properly or get a replacement before I get the Supersprint so I can sell it onto somebody

indeed.. it was more to do with how happy the guy was to be able to play his get out of jail free card, not with any "sorry sir" but more with an "up yours, it's not really my concern - sorry you haveto now pay £140 for a botch (sorry, authorised powerflow dealer) repair.as far as imaware most lifetime guarantees are only valid for the original purchaser.
Demon Tweeks have my full appreciation, I can't fault them as a company but the powerflow ethic is obviously drilled into the counter gimps. That's my area of beef.
Buy cheap (powerflow) buy twice. It's true that a bad customer experince is 10 times more audible than a good one.
I'd happily watch powerflow fold.

I saw the MIG welding on a friend's Powerflow system, and it was shocking. Loads of spatter everywhere, porous welds from lack of gas coverage, uneven heat penetration.
The TIG welds on the "stainless" (probably A2-70 crap, not 316L) back box looked like the steak casserole I've just eaten.
Might have just been a one-off, but I probably wouldn't go there because of what I've seen.
Do you want to get a whole system, or are you just getting a back box?

Well, that's great thank's guy's
I wont be getting a powerflow then. Glad I asked as it could have ended in tears LOL.
Any one recomend some one, I have a old 7 that is in need of an exhaust so it would help
Was talking to Him today about it. He is not very keen on BMW exaust;s as to keeping the druming down, I was getting the e23 dun but he would onley do it with a BMW back box??? because off noise probloms in the past.
I might just find a good sh system, I would like to put a 325 system on and replace that single thing it has, Some silley little mod to get the 320 breathing a little better, 325 system has worked well on a 323 a M8 has,

my powerflow was put on by the previous owner who knew the guy in the shop.
so hopefully it will be fine.
think e30 has went past boy racer status by now! takes a bit of effort to have an e30
mine is still doing around 28mpg and thats opening the taps whenever I get the chance.
I do agree with the higher gears on a 6cly def gives a good rumble
