Is'nt this a 3 series vs 5 series question? If so, do we then have to worry about the zones future?

u still havent said which version of each

e30, e36, e46,
m5
e28, e34, e39, e60
m3
e30, e36, e46,
m5
e28, e34, e39, e60
i doubt theres many on here who wud stay with an e30 if they cud afford an e46 m3 or e39 m5 m8.Is'nt this a 3 series vs 5 series question? If so, do we then have to worry about the zones future?

The New M5 is well impressive, the old M5 was a bit special too ! However there is something about the look of our E30's that make the difference, dont you think?

True... would love an E46 M3, but wouldn't like having all that money tied up in a car!!!.. I could do so much to my house for that sort of money,, therefor am happy with my old banger!!!Chaos wrote:i doubt theres many on here who wud stay with an e30 if they cud afford an e46 m3 or e39 m5 m8.

and thats exactly the reason why im chuffed with the pink jetronic 320 that i picked up a couple of days ago - effectively cost me Ԛ£60, and its taxed and tested.... cant argue for that! i grinned the ENTIRE trip home, even with scary brakes, 195/65/14 tyres, shagged rear shocks and a rev counter that didnt know wether it wanted to work or not. Amazing bargain. Ok, it cant be compared to an e46 m3, but if you can compare the e30 m3 to an e46 m3, you CAN compare my 320 to a e30 m3. (sort of)...if you get my drift.Wilson wrote: True... would love an E46 M3, but wouldn't like having all that money tied up in a car!!!.. yup, its like people who say "Pele is the best footballer of all time, and Zidane is sh1t".... you just cant compare people or cars from different generations. Its like me trying to race my grandfather on 100m sprint...i'd murder him, but if he challenged me to a crossword, i'd be toast! You cant compare thru different generations.

That would have to be a big fat YESbmbimbo wrote:but would you keep your e30 if you could afford a different bmw??
As much as I like the look of the E46 M3, and the E39 M5, they are just too big. I really don't like large cars. Anything newer than these is just plain fugly, so no probs there.
Other problems with the newer models:
A: Too many nanny electronic controls to spoil your fun
B: You have to drive at silly speeds for them to feel special
C: Every thieving low life scum wants to take it off you
D: Depreciation
E: Any twat with money can have one - I'd rather build something special myself
Ian.

Hi Karan,Karan wrote:Ian have u got any other plans on another car? or are u gonna continue messing with the sport?
No plans for another car. I'm just happy to have the thing back finally so I can enjoy driving it.
I will be finishing the Aircon install shortly, and may fit some coilovers at some point, but no real plans apart form that. Just keep it looking nice and running well is my main goal.

What meets are coming up ?Karan wrote:u must pop down to a meet Ian!

I quite often can't make meets due to my funny work pattern, but I'll see what I can do.
To be honest, I'm really happy with the sport as it is, and have no desire for change. Everytime I have modified car's in the past, I have got bored with it after a few months, and start planning something new. I have had this conversion done for a few years now, and it still makes me smile everytime I drive it
I just remembered that I still want to get a bit more work done on the exhaust to:
A: Give more ground clearance
B: Add an 'X' pipe in the front section to help breathing
C: Add proper bolt flanges where the manifold joins the main system. I really hate sleeve joints.
Ian.
