I found a M-tech body kit for £200, wont be spending on labour as i'll do it all myself, I'd really like to know if the the 325i engine will fit in the 316i engine space also where i can get the eyelids that are over the head lights, the alpina low profile wheels.

Are your sure it a tech 2 and not a tech 1 bodykit for £200.The 325 engine will fit as the space is the same size and you will get the eyebrows on ebay.

The 325i engine will fit in, all E30 shells are the same regardless of engine. You should upgrade the brakes (the rears of the 316i will be drums) and the suspension (to 51mm front struts and suitable springs for the extra weight of the 6 pot). I'd drop in a 24v lump from an E36 though. winkeye
Not in E30s any more :(

That front wing is seriously rusty for a G plate

Is the rest of the car similar?
Can't really tell from the pic's if it is.

Its not that bad really, its just a little surface rust a little sanding a little sanding and a respray and it'll be fine, worst case i swap the whole front wing from a doner.

If it is a tech2 and complete/good condition (and genuine) you have done very well.

You have my full support. Much better to see a neglected one being glorified than see another sport change hands and the poor 316 be scrapped.

You'll need to de-chrome (shadow-line) it aswell, something i'll also need to do to mine..

You can buy the shadow line kits (as their called) or you can spray the chrome trims that are already on your car. You can also get tape that covers the chrome trim, but i've never used them so can't comment on how good they are.

Its a tech 1. Looks pretty good. Will probably have to respray though...

To fit the tech 1 kit onto a facelift car you'll need to change the front valance to an pre-facelift one, IIRC you'll need to cut/play with the rear bumper to fit aswell as the rear arches are different on early/late cars.

This is the 82,000 mile 2 owner car from ebay isn't it? I was considering it as a project but was too far away.

Good luck with it :thumb:

Look out for a secondhand MTEC 2 kit and one (or two?) new front wing(s). IMHO they look better without the rear spoiler.

If you want an E30 with a sport kit, it might be better to buy one with a sport kit on it already.

Can you do painting yourself?

I think swapping that front wing over is a given mate.

Good luck with the project, always nice to hear of neglected E30s having some time and attention spent on them.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

Hi mate,

I have done the same with my car but just left the engine (insurance reasons) but trust me its expensive!! but well worth it.

i rekon my car stands me at about £2700 and i payed 200 for it :)

The jobs you need to do are...

Tech 2 kit (not tech 1 as its much much harder to fit - you need to change the valance ect),

some 15'' bbs or alpina reps are in that picture,

fog lights,

sports interior,

clear indicators,

Black headlining - depends how fussy you are,

engine upgrade,

and theres loads more.

heres my car before and after...

The vehcile was way too far away for me to get to, the seller doesn't seem prepared to meet somewhere closer. I'm really bummed about it cuz i had some great plans for that car! It a great buy tho for someone that has a trailer and can get to the farm.

If your still looking for a car some good sites to check are

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/

http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/

freeads

autotrader- uses the advance search put in bmw and then specifiy each year they were made ie start with 1983 and end with 1991 or go back even further if u want an e21

there also a uk bmw site that as a few on more likely owned by an entusiast but more ££££

other sites that trawl the whole net that are wuite good are sun local oodle and many more

good luck - wait for a good one as it saves u money i bought a sh1tter 323i and it swiftly blew up - good for spare but not much else
