I've seen a number of pictures of E30s wearing an unidentified volvo spoiler on the front. Like this:

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a130/ ... onscar.jpg

It looks to be a pretty good fit, and as I havn't yet replaced my iS lip which was nicked a couple of months ago - i was wondering:

What model is this one above taken off, and what modifcations to it are required so it'll fit?

The lip comes from a late model 740 or 940,about 1991 year.
Easy enought to fit just needs some tabs trimming off where it mounts to the Volvo and the ends have to be trimmed down once fitted as they are a few inches to long.
To mount to an E30 you use your own choice really be it cable ties or self tappers.
I did mine by removing the plastic clips from the E30 lower valance then drilling holes into the lip to line up with the front panel holes.
I then used loads of 8mm wing bolts and speed clips to mount the 2 together :D

This is actually pretty cool! Its very drift spec, and those are rivets not nails.

I like it too. Anyone remember the proton satria gti? The only cool thing about that was the bolt-on arches.

I know they are riveted on,nailed on was just a expression!
drift spec, yes it wouldnt look out of place,
IMO plastic arches belong on mini's,landrover's and mk2 trannies (as magpie said)
in a way it does suit the E30 but its not my cup of tea!

I believe those arches are the Ireland Engineering items - they retail at 275 dollars and are designed for track use to allow wider wheels/tyres. Here's the link for annyone that wants a set:

Looks a cool car, all things considered. Even with the Austin Mini arches. Perversely, I quite like them!! It's a little Mad AMx!

ive searched pretty heavily for bolt on arches like those for my track car. seems ireland are the only folks who supply them.

be careful with these.....i believe the ireland engineering ones are designed for a pre-facelift car so they wont fit a post-face car properly without some work to adapt them. they are ABS plastic so they wont be as easy to adapt as fibregash would be. thats whats put me off buying them, that and the price for a potentially useless product.

im considering making my own but havent figured out how yet.

They're actually designed for a 2002. You need to trim them back for an E30 and from memory, swap sides or front to rear. Done properly, they are good.

Same as this.

I'm not shamed to say I like those arched a lot. The Volvo spoiler definately looks good, sits well on Eko's car, but that's the only one I've seen in the flesh with it on.
Not in E30s any more :(

One point worth mentioning with this spoiler fitted it the way it flares out in front of the wheels. Can just about see what I mean in this pic but its actually quite noticable when stood at the car.

Do you think that it would fit on the normalfront panel?

My car hasn't got the bodykit on.
