whats your budget ?
i believe some of the boys now have an copy of the alpina exhaust and it gives a nice nosie and power gains (unlike most) but its not cheap.
scorpion seems to be a popular choice, tho someone (sal????) said u will lose power slighlty with most of the aftermarket systems
theres a group buy on mongoose exhaust atm

the best thing u cud do is fit a 6 branch
theres another group buy for these as well

i went for a magnex system on mine which i found a good combination of noise ,quality ,and power , the only thing i will say and i think it goes for most aftermarket exhausts is that they do get louder as they get older !
the packing material wears out ,except maybe the sebring which has a wire wool type packing.
happy hunting !

sorry to be a
but can someone just explain what is meant by 'straight through' 'freeflow' all these names for exhasut designs that I don't really understand. Does it mean there are no boxes along the way, just a 3" pipe all the way from the exhaust manifold out of the back??!! Surely this would just deafen you and be completely illegal?? No? Thanks for helping a novice out!!

I've heard good things about both the above, I got quotes from them, they are fairly pricey... if you search above in the forums there are a few topics on them, or speak to Hap and Simon13 they'll tell you a bit more, in fact Hap had one for sale at bargain price, not sure if he's still got it, send him PM

i know what you mean by defing you but my exhaust goes from the 6 branch in to a 3" and it goes straight thru (no center box) to the back box, it does get a little loud at times but that just means it's time to fill the back box with exhaust filler, and no its not illigal iv actually had a copper stop me because he thought it was loud and he got underneeth and comented on how good of an exhaust it wasWilliam wrote:sorry to be abut can someone just explain what is meant by 'straight through' 'freeflow' all these names for exhasut designs that I don't really understand. Alpina like a standard sytem except alot more bass just sounds sweet. Mines making good noises now it's done over 10k hehe
Scorpions give me a hard on
proper race car noises very hollow(spelling
)
Magnex nice sound different to both of the above still quite loud and throbby? if the owrd exists but very nice!
Sebring never heard one and are very expensive but very good name reputation
Mongoose never heard this either
Scott325se found the firm larinni exhausts
and theres a few others i cannot remember!

no way is the level 90db.
stuff like an F40 makes over 100db as standard and is still fully legal.

I just found below, taken from Environment agency... Maybe there is no specific level!!!
http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/yo ... 4/?lang=_e
Road vehicles have to comply with noise emission standards. The Police can take action if individual vehicles have defective silencers or are being driven in a way that creates too much noise. There arenÔš't any specific limits on noise from roads, but noise levels may be taken into account when planning to build houses or offices near to roads. Noise barriers or noise insulation (e.g. acoustic double glazing, alternative means of ventilation) may be used to reduce the impact.

SCORPION, SCORPION and SCORPION. They are fantastic systems, on my old 2.5i se 4dr I had a full stainless system with centre section removed, so basically it was downpipe straight through to back box and she sounded fantastic even with a standard airbox (which is the best way to have it). I wouldn't wanna use anything else on an E30 at all. and they look amazing aswell.

NICE !!!

NICE !!!
