can the M20 output flange be used on the M30 box

has anyone ever gone down this route on there M30 conversion?
and what prop would be needed?
more to the point does the M20 gearbox flange fit on the M30 box?

It has been done, so it does fit, and being shorter should accept the o/e prop without any modding.

why isnt this procedure use in most M30 conversions?
sounds easier/more cost effective.

aren't the splines different on both flanges, as for my conversin they wouldn't fit

according to the M30 sticky at the top of the page it says it can be done (first post)
but it says to use the M30 one for a reason and im thinking strength,
the thing is,do the M20 turbo boys have any issues with the flange failing.

Wouldn't wotk on mine, tried it but splines were totally different so gave up

This is from e30.de

Variant 1: Shortened e30 Driveshaft (not recommended) The e30 driveshaft can be shortened and used for the 335i conversion. The flange at the front of the driveshaft is much smaller than that of its M30 counterpart. In order to use the M20 driveshaft the flange must be changed at the transmission. In this setup the M20 universal joint will be left unaltered. The M20 driveshaft is often broken at the universal joint in the standard M20, so the use of this joint in an application that will be applying more torque is unfavorable. It is likely that frequent changes of the universal joint would be required in this application.

I have read this but then my mind started ticking about the strength of the m20 prop.
when turboing an m20 is the prop strengthened?
also does anyone know how much power/torque the m20 prop can take before failing?
