How hard is it to join these two. And what tools do I need. I feel a but embarrassed as most men should know how to do this. :o:

They're for the speakers I guess?

I'd solder them and use heat shrink.

Or you can also crimp them or use Block connectors, but neither are my preferred choice.

I'd rather chop them than pay Halfrauds about £15 for an ISO connector.

Don't do anything yet, I'm pretty sure I've got a lead made up but I've got to search in the shed tomorrow. If I can find it you can have it.

the best way to connect/fit a cd player in my experience (especially with older cars) is to re-wire the whole stereo loom
it's just speakers and a live/ground
who knows what is lurking in there from previous fitting ! label your new wires correctly and it makes it very easy reduces the risk of a wiring fire too!!!

Exactly my thoughts, it doesn't take too long to do, and you can rely on new wiring instead of the god knows how many years old OE wiring, makes things so much easier for any future changes too :D
Wanted: Any old component speakers, complete or separate parts, let me know what you got :D

You're all so technical and professional. I've got 8meg broadband running through an old headphone wire that I stripped, joined, and connected using nothing but a cigarette lighter and my teeth. Has worked well for years, being kicked about as it runs across the carpet at the top of the stairs. Not saying that's the best way to do it, just that it doesn't require a degree in electronics, and a myriad of components, to work successfully.

Blitz you can only know how to do this if you've learnt how mate. Get a friendly neighbourhood zoner to help you - if such a thing exists. If you were near me I'd do that for you in no time.

loads of ways, strip wire solder, use block connectors, crimps, or the council twist the wire and use some tape winkeye

i did this on my car the other day and since i was not using the speaker wires i just used a block connector stripped the wires with a wire stripper and connected them together :D i pulled all the speaker wire out to the speakers as it was not original wire, but there was no original "bmw" speaker wire, must mean it never had a radio when new

if i was nearer i would help you blitz, just finnished installing my amp, front comps and rear 6.5 speakers today sounds awsome :D

Buy one of these:

[img]http://www.zbtools.co.uk/pic/ZBT3198.jpg

Then get a gas soldering iron, leaded solder with flux, and some head-shrink sleeving.

You'll make a lovely job of it and the practice will be good for more important wiring you'll do in the future.
