proper kenwood stylee ie tap into the hazard switch for a live and earth. All their wiring is just stripped ends twirled together and taped up lovely jubbely! :? So a bit of a soldering marathon 2 moro.

Plus there is no stereo loom! strange i know, so that explains the lash up. PYF has come to rescue again and donated it's radio loom which was nice

2dr what 2dr?! too many cars

Do you mean mothballed? (Meaning - put to one side. Snowballed means things get larger and larger. Although I suppose this could also be true.)

Good luck finding the leak. Your cars are lucky you own them! :thumb:

I must of stood with a hose pipe for 10mins today and can't find a leak :? both sunroof drains aren't blocked, the elephants trunk isn't blocked either

Door seals seem to be tight. So i've drawn a blank so far.

Thanks to Powelly for giving the carpet a wetvac, it's come up a treat. TomtomiS for some help on the stereo loom. Just need to tidy up the loom behind the dash as i've added cruise,OBC and heated seat looms so it's a bit chocca behind the glove box now.

Hopefully get the dash back in tomorrow and if the carpet dries and i find the leak maybe that too!

I had a mystery leak on a E30 coupe and it turned out to be a small hole/crack in the left hand inner arch just in the right place to get all the spray off the front wheel.

Might be worth a look?

Didn't get as far today! Dash is in but the f**king thing won't start. All looms are in but i've a feeling it's a dodgy connection. Turned over for a split second and thats been it :? I'm fed up with it so i'll have another crack 2moro

It's got a bmw fitted alarm and it uses the same plug as the OBC on the immobilser part of the main loom. It was starting up and working fine with either plugged in

Carpet is nearly dry though!

it just fired straight up, strange! i'm not complaining.

Dave i'm not planning all out on it, more just adding a few choice options the original owner didn't want/couldn't afford from new!

Simon, I found a common place for water to get into the cabin is the knockout section where the A/C pipes go through. Pull the sound deadning up and have a look.

Well here's Powelly giving it large on the carpet!

Image
Image

Nice and dry

Image

I still can' suss this leak so it's almost bollocks to it! :? i can't find any tell tale signs still after more hose pipe action

Image

Uncracked dash in, i forgot what fun this can be! some pina style clocks added as the old unit was playing up on the rev,eco counters

Image

All centre bits in OBC and new head unit, was warm today obc tells no lies on temperature!

There was too much swearing to take a picuture when the carpet fell in, they really do just fall back in, not :x

But...................this seat just fell in! heated leathers for this brass weather

Image
Image

Still got immobilser issues, now the car has 2 on it since the OBC has been added it won't start. I'm at a loss as to where to look. Everything is connected to where it should go, but bmw alarm fitted from new uses the same plug as where the obc immobilser plug goes also. Now a few days ago the car would start with either plugged in now it won't with either plugged in :?

This car is sweet. Will it be the daily once the 2 door is done or will they both be pampered?

Looking very nice, it was bloody freezing that day.
Did you replace the grommet round the wiper spindle, it's the only place I can think of that water is coming in, it makes sense, certainly on mine we have seen the water dripping from the bottom of the heater box, I reckon it drips past the grommet and down in to the heater motor area, once the foam gasket on top of the heater box is saturated it starts to drip, this is why it only leaks after pro-longed rain.

No it's no daily car, but it's the emergency/down the tip/weekend/carrying frag engine cranes car when it's going if any of our other cars breaks!

Steve i'll change that grommet for piece of mind

I'm soooooooooo cold so i've given up for a bit but we are nearly there

Looking great inside, I love Alpina tourings. Did Sytners supply the plaque or did you have it made? if the latter did you make up a number or is it related to the VIN number?

Cheers

no the plaque is off a another alpina that no longer exists........a dolphin grey 4 dr auto. I suppose i could get one made up.

The numbers on sytners cars make no sense really on dash plaques

barry that lube is well handy for handbrake grips!
