Hope some1 can help here,

my mate has a e34 535i and i was gonna buy the engine from it and stick it in a e30 again! trouble is i've been round there today to see it running and there's abig crack next to the drivers side engine mount, as he only wanted £100 for the whole car i was wondering if the engine block was the same throughout the m30 series engines

AND THE BIG QUESTION IS

Has any1 got a spare block? as i'm sure i could get the engine for pence and i was thinking i could just rebuild it and still be cheaper than trying to buy a complete running engine/gearbox.

cheers for any help provided.

Andy.

Yeah not a prolem ric, the rest of the car/engine is in good condition, it's been sat for a year with no antifreeze in it, but i checked the rest of the engine and thats the crack i could find.

some1 somewhere must have a spare block lying around for an M30. the guy is goona give me engine/geabox and all the bits i want as he's just gonna scrap the car anyway!!!! no point taking it out if i can't get another block to rebuild onto!

cheers

Andy.

You'll need an M30B35 engine block. A B30 block has a smaller bore, and a B34 (E24/E28 3.5) block has different engine mounting points.

Chees for that Theo, are the engine mounting positions really different on the e24/e28 block? was gonna make my own mounts to fit once engine is in anyway.

think i might just het the bits i need and wait for a block to come up, got space to keep it so might aswell!!!!

That's the third failure of this exact part of the block I've heard of now.

One of those is the block that's in my car right now, it's holding up on two out of three bolts! 8O

I just keep a check on things regularly and check bolt tightness, I think that bolt gets loose and then breaks the stub on the block that the bolt goes into.
