Can anyone tell me what this connector might be for please? The car's a 1986 325i Sport. The other end of the cable runs into the bottom of the fuse box, and it's simply lying next to the air filter.

Also, there's this part below, zipped tied to the engine bay in the same area, which doesn't seem to be doing a lot as it only has one connector going to an earth point.

The car's had a hard life and I have a (growing) list of various things to sort on it since acquiring it just over a month ago.

That looks like a old Piranha alarm connecting plug.

I'm sure if you trace the wire's back they will confirm that it's an unused alram loom.

Hmm, the other end of the cable terminates in the bottom of the fusebox from what I could see. I'll have another look.

The car did have an imobiliser fitted to it in the past - the wiring loom behind the glovebox looks hacked to bits.

Un do the fuse box and lift it up. Will make thing's easier totake out.
