its got the makings of a really fun motor by the looks, do these drive like theyre on rails?, or are they like any other E30 to drive?
G104VHJ......Alpine White 318i Touring.....RIP
completly different kettle of fish, dont need to worry about the back end stepping out they grip to the road, been told there not as fast as 2.5 e30 RWD in a straight line but obliterate them round corners so on the track its an overall faster car =) cant wait to drive it but i'd be scared to drive it on the track incase it gets ko'd lol
Any chance you could take a picture under the bonnet, specifically over the exhaust manifold area? I'm very keen to know what has been done to convert it to RHD and maintain PAS. Either it's some very clever use of genuine BMW parts that no one else has thought of, or someone has been under it with the Stihl saw and hot glue gun!
When you look at the car from the underside you'll know what I mean. The engine subframe is alien to all other E30's and is very restrictive to cope with the 4wd layout; as such there are limitations as to what can be done.

yeah ill see what i can do, i looked at it myself and thought... that engine bay looks bloody empty for a 2.5.. but its definately been converted as its still got the footrest on the (now) passenger side and a mirror in the sun visor on the (now) drivers side. its quite a funny car to be honest lol.
loads of potential. not a lover of the roof spoiler or m3 boot spoiler but its looks a bargain and only wish i had seen it at that price. cant wait to see updates on this
It has to have been converted as none were ever made in RHD. I would be looking at the quality of A: the way the wiring has been converted (take a good look under the dash panel and glove box for a good indicator to start with) and B: the way the steering has been converted - I would do this before I spent any money on the car at all. It could be very nasty.
Before it goes around a track I would be going over the whole car replacing brakes and bushes where required, also giving the cooling system and fluids a going over, at the least. The £300 you spent buying it is the start of a marathon spending session if you want to get this in top form.
As for the back end not stepping out, I'm afraid that is incorrect, the torque split is still biased towards the rear end so sideways action is fully available

oh yeah, forgot to correct myself, it has the original iX spoiler, with an M3 spoiler fitted over it. the conversion work seems to have been installed very well as far as i can tell, looked underneath it and took some photos just waiting for them to upload, the original hole for the steering rack is on the passenger side but theyve made a very clean new hole for the rack which i believe is a genuine BMW part. as for things like brake reservoir etc i'm not clued up about 325's but theres a ton of space on the now drivers side under the bonnet lol

Have to admit I am starting to like the idea of an IX as the body styling is really nice. but I think if possible put an M30 lump in for extra power and low end tourqe.

whoevers after hartge alloys, offer the fella 250 cash for it, trailer it to a scrappy, unbolt the kit and wheels then weigh the rest in...no mucking about. could do it all on a day off with time left for a few jars in the pub. bet it's not even registered by the man given the leaves on it.
