Just wondering how people have removed the bolts that hold the column up?i have heard of knocking out with a punch or drilling. What have you found easiest??

TIA

Tap it around with either a centre punch or screwdriver.

Took me all afternoon to remove the shear bolts on the column on my project a month or two back.Main issue is access, the damn things are surrounded by the support bracket. If you are taking the column out,it is easier to remove the shear bolts that hold the support bracket to the column, then you can get the thing upside down in your bench vice and get at them!! Failing that,a decent centre punch to get a start then sacrifice a screwdriver to tap them round.

What do you use to drop the column (do you make up a spacer?) and how far can you get it to drop?

Cut half of the top away with a Dremel to create a flat then belted it with punch. Will be a poxy job with an interior.

 Tim tis allowed :

Steering wheel height may be adjusted by modifying the steering column
providing that any materials used are of adequate strength. It is strongly
recommended that fasteners are regularly checked for security and tightness.

I used a punch to smash mine out, then tried spacing the column down and found more comfy back in original hieght with 60mm spacer DOH
